About this listen

Nearly 25 years ago, Kathleen Halloran’s brother drowned during the last summer they ever spent with their grandmother on a remote island off Maine’s coast. Like a siren’s call she can’t resist, Kathleen is pulled back to Little Sister Island. She leaves her job and her girlfriend, packs up her few belongings, and moves into her grandmother’s cottage.

Molly Cooper loves life on Little Sister, where the islanders take care of their own. Kathleen Halloran doesn’t belong here, and her arrival stirs up unwelcome memories for the islanders - including Molly’s brother. Molly is certain Kathleen will pack up at the first big blow. When she doesn’t, Molly begins to see maybe there’s more to Kathleen than she thought. Sometimes, before you can move forward, you have to look back.

I wish you could give stars without writing a review. I just don't really like writing them.

Such a lovely story!

Having been to Maine and New Hampshire, listening to the description of Little Sister Island was so vivid and breathtaking. The plot development was exquisite at best. I felt like I was there shoveling the snow with Kathleen and looking at the view overlooking the bluff. The two main characters were excellent! They had such magnetic chemistry. Kathleen’s parents were such horrid, selfish human beings. Particularly the mother! That is all I’m saying.

The narrator was lovely. Using that lovely New Englander accent! It was wonderful!

WOW!

I loved When The Stars Sang. such a moving book. A great story of love, friendship and what screwed up parents inflict on their children. Ann Etter did a great job with the narration.

Great story!!

I absolutely fell in love with this story. The quirks and customs of the people on Little Sister Island made me want to move there ,LOL. The narrator did a great job with several different places. I especially love the Irish accents. This is my first book from this author, and it definitely won’t be my last.

Loved it.

I was not sure I will like this book, but indeed I loved it. This book brought traditions from another world and the imagination roamed to far places.

A thing of remarkable beauty!

One of the most well-crafted narratives I have read. A stunning story on so many levels! Life is so much richer for having spent time with these wonderful people! Give that gift to yourself.

Caren Werlinger: Thank you for a loving, precious, life-affirming story!

Wonderful storytelling!

Fascinating story...Beaufully drawn characters, convincing tale — I was moved by the island's story and its inhabitants (and their stories). I’m anxious to hear more from this storyteller!

Great Story

The narrator’s voice annoyed me. I didn’t mind her accent, but her voice was often too high pitched.
