Not your hearts and roses romance. At least not in the beginning. Lots of growth and an emotional ride. I really enjoyed the story. Narration was good just a few awkward pauses here and there, but she did a good job telling thus story.

Really enjoyed

Yes. It was a fun read. There was a little bit of everything- sorrow, a bit of humor, romance, mystery and of course… a happy ending

Complicated tale, or is it a complex tale? No matter how you say it this is a very good book. The characters are diverse and intricately woven. The historic side was crafted into what was happening as Napoleon's reign ended. The romance side is anything but silly or frivolous.

Narrator: Jill Tanner display an excellent job! I did not hear her reading a book, I 'saw' a story. Isn't that the way it should be?

Heat Factor : A good lot of tension, a whole lot of awareness but very little actual steam.

Creditworthy? Definitely yes!

Well, not exactly arranged, not like you think.

This story is complicated yet so real. Flawed people who make mistakes and forgive because of a deep and unconditional love. I thought of the mistakes I’d made by having conditions on living someone. The heroine was emotionally brave which changed the relationship and created a deep bond only because she stayed authentic to herself.

Deep

I did enjoy the book a lot and will definitely listen to it again in the future

Was really intriguing book

Loved the story. For once no female falling apart. One thing if I may…Johannesburg is not a port. It’s inland. Cape Town or Cape of Good Hope is where ships docked. Still loved the story

Enjoyed

Started out pretty devastating. The story didn’t get much better. It was hard to follow as it felt like the story jumped around. The narrator didn’t change her voice much so it was hard to distinguish who was talking.

Confusing

At first Eleanor was about as annoying as they come. She whined about everything and went from elated to suicidal over a look from Nicholas.

I considered bailing on the story, but stuck it out. It WAS a bit of a complicated plot for not really any reason, but isn't that true of many books? I think perhaps it was partially related to the time period the book was set in, when it seems to me many things that were fussed over were trivial.

I finished it yesterday and noticed myself missing them today. Jill Tanner did a great job of narrating.

It was okay

I felt like putting on 2x the speed to hurry . Great narration. Story good but just could of used 2 hours of cuts along the way..

Sooooo long

Had the makings of a good story but developed slowly, predictably and could have been 2-3 hours shorter.

Boring…
