About this listen

Christmas is coming to Cape Cod, but when Sam Barnes finds a very dead Santa in a very hip restaurant, it’s up to her to sift out suspects who have been naughty vs. nice....

Professional foodie Samantha Barnes has a simple Christmas list: a quiet holiday at home with her dog and a certain handsome harbor master; no embarrassing viral videos; and no finding dead bodies. Unfortunately she’s got family visiting, she’s spending a lot of time in front of the camera, and she’s just stumbled over the lifeless body of the town’s Santa Claus.

Plus, Sam’s plans for Christmas Eve are getting complicated. There’s the great eggnog debate among her very opinionated guests. There’s the “all edible” Christmas tree to decorate. And there’s her Feast of the Five Fishes prepare. Nonetheless, Sam finds herself once again in the role of sleuth. She needs to find out who slayed this Santa — but can she pull off a perfect feast and nab a killer?

Enjoyable

I love this series and I’m very sorry there is only one more in the series. I will miss Sam and her friends when it is over. I love how she explains herself all the time. She is very special.

I like the story

there is a background whoosh sound that is probably the narrator inhaling between breaths but it sounds like an oxygen tank. I didn't notice it in the first book in the series. weird.

Loved It!

So happy to have Sam and Jason back for a new adventure, and Sam's parents are joining in for the holidays. Not surprisingly, Sam is playing Ms. Marple, and we see where she got that insatiable curiosity. Who knew there were so many secrets, old and new, in Cape Cod. Some are fun. Some are not. I admit, Sam came close to turning into a whiner a few times, but never fear. She recognized, acknowledged, and worked on it, but to be fair, Jason was acting strangely. All of it works together for a very good read.

Great! except the constant inhale sounds.

Ms Perishing, writes with the detailed character development of Agatha Christie, but with the benefit of humor.

Another triump from Pershing

In a crowded field of cozy mysteries or holiday stories, An Eggnog to Die For stands far above the crowd. Samantha Barnes is a compelling heroine, surrounded by a quirky and interesting cast of characters. Pershing is a master of the plot twist, and the cooking tips that she sprinkles throughout her stories have me reaching for a pen to take notes. I hope book 3 in this series will be available soon!

Love the book but audio needs editing

The story is fun and enjoyable but the loud breaths by the narrator between sentences makes it cringy to listen to for an entire book. Wish the audio editors had edited out the deep mouth breathing because the narrator is good when not mouth breathing. I’ll finish this story in book form.
