About this listen
A totally perfect and heartwarming small-town romance about new beginnings, old secrets, and how home is truly where the heart is....
Meghan Gray hasn’t returned to the golden sands of Hatteras Island since her beloved Pappy passed away 10 years ago. But with her life in New York falling apart—and her dreams of becoming a successful chef going up smoke—she quits her waitress job and heads back home on a hot summer’s day, hoping she’ll find some answers there.
Packing up her belongings and the manila envelope her grandfather left for her, she makes the nine-hour drive to the sun-drenched island. On her first night, she meets brooding Toby Meyers, whose sparkling blue eyes make her feel like coming home. Meghan is instantly drawn to the enigmatic entrepreneur, longing to know more.
Pappy’s fishing cottage is just how she remembers; a shingled bungalow on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean, with two rocking chairs on the porch. As the waves crash, Meghan realizes that this house—and the special memories it holds—is all she has left. Could this be her fresh start?
When Meghan opens the faded envelope gifted by her grandpa, she finds an old photograph, along with a mysterious key. If she can find what it belongs to, she’ll unlock a family secret that has the power to change everything—one that has been hidden for decades. And it will either bring Meghan and Toby together or break their hearts....
Audiences absolutely love Jenny Hale:
“I loved this book! I couldn’t put it down and read the entire thing in one day (laundry? What laundry?)!... Perfect!" (Orthodox Mom)
“Wow!... Wonderful...I was hooked from the start. I fell in love.... Amazing.” (Simona’s Corner of Dreams)

Callie Weaver and best friend Olivia Dixon have finally done it: put their life savings into the beach house they admired through childhood summers, on the dazzling white sand of North Carolina’s Outer Banks. They’re going to buff the salt from its windows, paint its sun-bleached sidings, and open it as a bed and breakfast. Callie’s too busy to think about her love life, but when she catches the attention of local heartthrob Luke Sullivan, his blue eyes and easy smile make it hard to say no.

Story
In a Seattle houseboat community, the artistic spirit that has flourished since the 1950s may have ended one life, yet saved another. On Seattle's Lake Union floats Boat Street. The farthest slip on the dock holds a houseboat sided with weathered cedar shingles and trailing morning glory, the white flowering vine whose loveliness is deceiving. In the 1950s, Penny, newly Mrs. Dexter Wentworth, takes up residence, dreaming of fulfillment as the muse to a successful local artist destined for national renown.

great story line
I am really liking her style of writing! Adds a twist of suspense with romance. only thing I can say against it, is the reader pronounced Hatteras and Manteo incorrectly a couple of times...coming from someone that has lived in NC all her life lol! But I would listen again!! great story

I love the story. But every time the narrator mispronounced Hatteras and Manteo I just cringe. The accent is way off too.

Just read it-mispronounced words Hatteras, philodendron and what kind of accent is this?
The author must not have listened to this-it is awful. If you’ve never heard of Hatteras or heard a southern accent, you will be fine! Otherwise it’s sooo distracting-seems like a good story though!
