About this listen

Welcome to Fortune's Island, where the only rule is to follow your heart.

Love is an extravagance Darcy Williams can't afford. She prefers the simple life, which includes waitressing at The Love Shack and avoiding temptation. But when a forbidden part of her past steps off the ferry, her safe, guarded existence is turned upside down.

Kincaid Foster has never gotten over his first love. When he sees the wild, beautiful blonde again, dancing her way around The Love Shack, the memories of Darcy's soft skin, gentle touch, and heated kisses come rushing back. As the privileged son of a wealthy family, Kincaid was too young to stand up to his overbearing father when he and Darcy were together. Now, he's back on the island - free of the family shackles - and the chiseled, big-time lawyer wants a second chance.

But Darcy made a promise to keep a secret from Kincaid - a secret that is now a six-year-old girl who looks just like her daddy. If Kincaid finds out about their daughter, Darcy could lose everything. But she can't resist the man who stole her heart all those years ago. And it doesn't take long before both of them realize that anything can happen on a hot summer night.

I’m a hopeless romantic and although the story line was fairly predictable it was a great love story. The narrator was a slow speaker so I upped the speed. I don’t understand why other reviews called the girl dumb or the guy dumb. I enjoyed this book.

Good story

Was interesting a little more narrative them the others but still good . The reader was not as alive like the other books this was more flat line . But this other is amazing

The story was great! Had my attention throughout. At first, the slow pace bothered me, but eventually I got used to it.

Loved the story, but the narrator was a little slow

I struggled through this story because of the bad narration.
What could have been a sweet and relaxing love story was ruined by the different voices the narrator with her old voice tried to create!

Bad narration spoiled the story!

I really liked the story but will not be moving to the next book in the series because the narrator spoke so slow, like there was a period between every word. I would READ the 2nd book, but will not listen to the same narrator.

Narrator makes me tired!

I was anxious to get into the story but just couldn’t!
The narrator was so lifeless. I tried & tried to get into it, but just couldn’t.

Excellent storytelling. Enjoyed the voice and the natural feel to transport me to summer romance.

Hated both characters less than half way thru.

At first there was a fun anticipation, a mystery and a one that "got a way" feel but then once they story was revealed (a 1/4 way thru) the most RIDICULOUS Selfish, unbelievable POVs began... and it was retold over and over and over and over <UUUGGGHHHH> For hours they rehashed the most awful romance ... honestly these 2 deserve each other, they are both terrible human beings that have a HEA... ? ...

The other part that was infuriating was the narration... every character sounded like they were either drunk or about to cry with each word.... ugh so depressing.

Granted there were a couple humorous moments, and a few heartfelt ones but given the setup it the positive points were lost in the over the top frustrating indecision between these 2. It's doubtful a couple like this would make it to the alter... but certainly to the divorce lawyers.

I only would say to read this one is because the background story of the Love Shack and the supporting character, Jillian's love story is told as a tease for book 2. THAT one I pray will be better.

OMGOSH GIMMIE A BREAK! Love so toxic & obnoxious!
