About this listen

The best-selling author of Practical Magic tells the tale of a man and a woman, an activist and a therapist, so consumed with helping others that they are in danger of failing in their duty to themselves.

Natalie, a therapist, is in love with Carter - but he is deeply dedicated to his environmental work, and the fate of their relationship takes a backseat to the fate of the planet. Then a new client walks into Natalie's office. He is an intriguing man, with an incredible tale to tell, and under his influence she faces questions about the direction of her own passion, the true meaning of commitment…and the possibility of finding the love she seeks - right in her own backyard.

Beautiful

I am enthralled with Alice Hoffman and the way she crafts words into stories. Ms. Hoffman has a way of drawing a reader in and expanding one’s mind to a place one could never visit otherwise. I don’t know if this story would touch anyone else in the way it touched me. What I can know is if you are the type of reader who values a well written story, full of dynamic characterizations and authentic settings, you may want to spend time listening to “Angel Landing”.

Mediocre Alice

In previous Hoffman’s writings, I’ve literally been swept away by her gorgeous prose and genius story telling style.
Not so Angel Landing. I was soooo disappointed- a trite predictable story with none of the gorgeous analogies, descriptive prose and deliciously surprising, twisting and turning prosei admit I listened to the bitter end but it was a “write by numbers” book-shame on you Alice!

mentally scrumptious

Loved the story. As usual, I had a grin on my face after reading one of Ms. Hoffman's tales. She's an expert at weaving with words a wonderful tapestry in one"s mind. Mentally scrumptious.

Amazing writer

What a book that evokes a full introspective to society and the cultivation of all aspects of their struggles.a most amazing book that reflects our identification within the characters.such a wonderful plot with realism of characters that drew me into this story.

not a favorite

I've been attached to Alice Hoffman as one of my favorite writers for years.. but this is not a favorite book. Finn is complex and interesting but Natalie I couldn't warm up to. The supporting characters are very strong but the romance doesn't seem to flow naturally to me...

It’s free

This is obviously a very first novel and just found in the attic. It’s free for a reason.

Hated the story and the people. Hated the narration

I just don't get why this awful story was written. The main character is an idiot. Sorry it's true. Finn is a weak in all respects and the narrator nsfe him sound creepy to boot. It's the second worst book I've ever read.

I tried because it is Alice Hoffman

This was the first time I ever was disappointed with Alice Hoffman’s work. It was just drawn out and didn’t fit together well. There were pockets of potential but overall a big gap between the plot and what makes sense.
