About this listen

She found Anne Frank's diary and brought the world a message of love and hope.

For more than two years, Miep Gies and her husband helped hide the Franks from the Nazis. Like thousands of unsung heroes of the Holocaust, they risked their lives each day to bring food, news, and emotional support to the victims. From her own remarkable childhood as a World War I refugee to the moment she places a small, red-orange, checkered diary -- Anne's legacy -- in Otto Frank's hands, Miep Gies remembers her days with simple honesty and shattering clarity. Each page rings with courage and heartbreaking beauty.

Anne Frank Remembered

Amazing story of heroic efforts to help people without regard for their own safety in an abhorrent time of pure evil!

Great reading after Anne Frank’s Diary

Amazing narrator, great writing! Love the new POV from one of the helper! Sad story for two amazing young girls (Anne and Margot).

Profile in Bravery and Courage

I had so many questions after visiting the Anne Frank museum and hiding place. This book helped to answer questions and provide prospective of life in occupied Amsterdam. The bravery and courage described in the book are an inspiration. Everyone should read this extraordinary memoir.

Excellent narrative from the helpers of that time!

I found Anne’s story as a 5th grade student when it was first released. I added this story when I discovered it after it won a Best Documentary in 96 & I was watching with two young girls from my neighborhood.

When it won they said, “Who’s Anne Frank?”

I was agog! I said,” We’re fixing this now!” And bought both of them Anne’s diary. We talked about it when we had time together.

Personally I studied EVERYTHING. Including buying this book in print and watching the movie.

Narrator is soothing, but it’s gut wrenching knowing how this world is moving in the same direction again. I’m disabled now.

Just a few weeks after studying her story so deeply in 96 I received a severe TBI & epilepsy. While in the hospital the doctors wanted to send me home, but my mother got through to me I wasn’t well and these doctors, who I thought were Nazis were asking my mom to take me home. She refused.
I’m sorry to write my story here.

Anne Frank is easily remembered with this story

Would you listen to Anne Frank Remembered again? Why?

Yes, but probably not for a while. It's a good story & i sometimes re-listen to old books i've collected after a while, so maybe in a year or 2.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Anne Frank Remembered?

Probably the section about meip gies's constant worry about sickness for either herself or the frank family, i can only imagine how hard things were back in the war.

What about Barbara Rosenblat’s performance did you like?

Barbara's pros were her abillity to pronounce & say, with what sounded like fluency, the german/dutch sections.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

No not really, the amount of books i've listened to on this subject have kind of desensitised me to this story. but it still amazes me how bad things really were for the jews.

Any additional comments?

It's a really great listen. probably a better story than the original anne frank diary. well worth your credit too.
