About this listen

The end is nigh.

They have survived the outbreak of the deadliest virus known to mankind. They have made it through the zombie apocalypse. They have triumphed over cannibals, assassins, kidnappers, and have faced their own mortality a million times over. Now all that’s left to do is take out the man responsible for it all.

After escaping the hell of zombie-infested Dallas, Bree, Nate, and the gang have a clear destination: Decker and his doomsday bunker.

When failure is not an option, the only way is forward — and might just demand the ultimate sacrifice.

Great series!

The character development was amazing in this series. I absolutely loved the closure at the end. Plot twists and gore, everything a zombie story lover could ask for. I will definitely read more books from the author!

Outstanding series!

Liked? All 12 books, character growth, hidden plot twists! Disliked? No more in the series. Avid Zombie fan and of the multiple series in this genre… the absolute best! Warm, believable and shows the best and worst of mankind. Retired Vet And I enjoyed the military characters. Believable! Bravo MS. Lechter!

repetitive descriptions, boring pace, plot holes…

I made it through book 12 of this monstrosity, so I get to vent a bit. Obviously the series held my attention just enough to keep buying the next one. I struggle to give up on anything. But this was close.
No group of people ever have shrugged this many times in their life. Go ahead and estimate how many times you’ve shrugged (or the infamous one shoulder shrug) in your life. Multiply by 27.9. That’s the average per character/per book shrug count. If it’s not a shrug it’s a weary glare or a scowl.
The main characters are assholes. The dudes literally a terrorist. There’s nothing redeemable about him. He’s not even this GI Joe badass. He sucks as a human and I’m sad he didn’t die.
The only guy I liked was the friend that seemed to be an idiot. I can’t even remember his name.

SPOILER BELOW!!!!

Oh my god. I listened to what, 120? 150? hours of this nonsense and the villain is the little sister? She was like 20 when the apocalypse happened. She wasn’t this megascientist or solder of fortune. She was assaulted, wanted revenge, and ended the world? How exactly did that happen? After all of this we spend about a half hour on the epic showdown to explain and defeat her. She architects the worst disaster known to man and gains control as a queen of the apocalypse, yet she’s defeated by the worst thing ever - turning off the lights and yelling to put down their guns. I’ve actually seen this storyline before when the amusement park owner dressed up as a ghost, but Fred turned out the lights so shaggy could throw a net on him. Only to find out it was scrappy doo the whole f’ing time.

I wish they hadve all died. Then came back and eaten each other. Repeatedly. Actually if they make book 13 of this, I would buy it.

could have been done in the previous book

Very slow, clearly drawn out as long as possible. Bits of information in the first 25 chapters of gratuitous violence and stream of consciousness writing that could have easily been summed up in one or two chapters. My last favorite were the last two books. Added seemingly just to add books to the series. The epilogue was more interesting than the first half of the book!
