About this listen

Long nights hunting supernatural beings means little time for love in Adze's life. He and his pack mates are what protects Melbourne and Australia, from the things that go bump in the night - very real spirits and demons who prey on humans.

Every day Archie's life is consumed by work as he desperately tries to pay back his student debt and a loan a boyfriend took out in his name. Tired and alone, he dreams of a future with someone to love and hold him through the night.

One fateful encounter with a nephilim gone bad changes both their worlds forever. Now Adze just has to convince his heart mate he didn't actually kidnap him.

Please note: Archie's Accidental Kidnapping has undergone extensive edits and rewrites since Toni is gearing up to continue the series. In addition, the series has been renamed so as not to confuse it with another. The plot has changed, the world is different, 41,000 words were added, but the one thing that hasn't changed is Archie and Adze.

Sweet story, entertaining

I’m a sucker for soul mate stories and this one was really sweet. The characters are engaging and the story is good.

My main peeve is the repeated use (and it was excessive, trust me) of the phrase “the other man”. Once a character is named this phrase should be banished from further use. No exceptions. Every time it was said I was thrown out of the story and had to take a breath to get past it. Any other flaws were minor and easily ignored.

The absolute bright spot was the narration by the always outstanding Joel Leslie. His phrasing and word emphasis choices are wonderful and made me laugh again and again. Bravo Joel!!

Overall, an enjoyable listen.

Nice try, but only ok

This story could have been great. It just plodded along with a very slow pace. Not sure if it was the very basic, uncomplicated plot or the unbelievablility of the things that happen. For instance, if you thought you had been kidnapped, would the first thing you do when you wake up be to strip and take a shower? Not to even check the door or try to escape? Although it was a good try, I could barely make it through this book. Joel Leslie tried to make it a pleasurable listening experience, but it just was too clunky and not my favorite. I won’t be listening to it again.

Different Than I Expected

I really enjoyed this book. I was not expecting the turn it took towards the end. It hurt but in a good way especially when you add in the narration by Joel Leslie. I'm looking forward to book 2.

Sassy and fun

I absolutely loved Archie and Adze. The ever serious and in charge leader of the hellhounds needs the sweet and sassy Archie to level him out. The two of them are so perfect for each other and it is so much fun seeing them interact. There is definitely a sense of heartache and pain and I feel for Archie and the level of hurt that he goes through. Not to mention the pain and guilt Adze feels. I can’t wait for more from these hounds and their pack. I love the way that the narrator does these guys and the way that come together.

Just a bunch of fun!

This is a re-print and re-edited (longer) version of the story published years earlier.

It’s really cute, with some sweet moments as well as a lot of humor

I enjoyed the world Toni gives us with Hellhounds on patrol and crazy nephilim going after humans.

If you’re in the mood to laugh – give this a go!

Audio

Joel Leslie takes this fun and steamy story to the next level and gives it more weight than I’d even thought possible. It’s still a hoot and tons of fun, but he gives it a bit more polish than even the original had.
Highly recommended!

Go Team Hellhound

Liked the story, was nice that they were hellhounds insted of the regular wolfs that pop up in most shifter stories. Made it all more interesting to listen to. The charachters were likabell and complemented each other, some of them were really funny.
Joel Leslie were great in this, wanted something new from him and this made my day!

an enjoyable way to spend a couple of hours, interesting story line, but would have liked a little more background on characters

Refreshing, funny with a shifter twist

I loved this book, but I couldn’t give all 5 stars, because I had some unanswered questions and think if they were answered the book would have been a true gem.
Spoiler alert:
Number one: If a hound has a healing agent in in saliva, why doesn’t he try to stop the bleeding, remove stitches or at least attempt to heal some scars? Why rush to the hospital, skip some traffic lights and potentially killing innocent people?
Number two: How long will Archie live? Is his lifespan now the same as his mate? Number three: What happened to Archie’s going to England dream?
Joel did a fantastic job as usual, if it wasn’t for him this audiobook would not be as good as 4.5 stars. Keeping him as narrator would be a wise idea🏆

Insta love and dramatical angst (alas! alack!)

Plot felt juvenile and characters were way less than believable or fun. I got about a third through it and figured out that even the amazing Joel Leslie could save this for me. I like fantasy and happy endings, and this might have been well received if I were 13. YMMV, of course; as we all like different things.
