Publisher's summary
Amrit Kaur (The Sex Lives of College Girls) delivers a stellar performance in a brand-new enemies-to-lovers hockey romance by Sonya Lalli, the acclaimed author of The Matchmaker’s List and A Holly Jolly Diwali.
Hockey coach Ashley Jaswal doesn't take nonsense from anyone … except her overbearing and superstitious family. They believe she's a good luck charm for her brother Jas, the newest Vancouver Canucks draft pick, forcing Ash to attend all his games as he rises up the NHL ranks, sacrificing her personal life (not that she has one—who decided hockey season needed to be 10 months long anyway?).
Ash also clashes with Jas’s teammate, Canucks captain Devin Snyder. Devin is yet another arrogant hockey bro—and admitted total babe—who is fresh off a scandalous break-up with a global pop-star. But she soon finds the ice melts between them, and they share an unexpected chemistry. As Ash wrestles with her family’s demands, her brother’s career and her feelings for Devin, will she find a way to take a risk and make her own luck? Or will she puck this up?
This captivating Audible Original is an essential listen for fans of sports romance, strong heroines, sizzling chemistry and the diversity within the hockey community.

Story
In 2022, Lisa Marie Presley asked her daughter to help finally finish her long-gestating memoir. A month later, Lisa Marie was dead, and the world would never know her story in her own words, never know the passionate, joyful, caring, and complicated woman that Riley loved and now grieved. Riley got the tapes that her mother had recorded for the book, lay in her bed, and listened as Lisa Marie told story after story about smashing golf carts together in the yards of Graceland, about the unconditional love she felt from her father, about being upstairs, just the two of them.

Story
Sydney Shaw, like every single woman in New York, has terrible luck with dating. She’s seen it all: men who lie in their dating profile, men who stick her with the dinner bill, and worst of all, men who can't shut up about their mothers. But finally, she hits the jackpot. Her new boyfriend is utterly perfect. He's charming, handsome, and works as a doctor at a local hospital. Sydney is swept off her feet. Then the brutal murder of a young woman—the latest in a string of deaths across the coast—confounds police. The primary suspect? A mystery man who dates his victims before he kills them.

The plane is jam-packed. Every seat is taken. So of course the flight is delayed! Flight attendant Allegra Patel likes her job—she’s generally happy with her life, even if she can’t figure out why she hooks up with a man she barely speaks to—but today is her twenty-eighth birthday. She can think of plenty of things she’d rather be doing than placating a bunch of grumpy passengers.

Story
Ta-Nehisi Coates originally set out to write a book about writing, in the tradition of Orwell’s classic “Politics and the English Language,” but found himself grappling with deeper questions about how our stories—our reporting and imaginative narratives and mythmaking—expose and distort our realities. In the first of the book’s three intertwining essays, Coates, on his first trip to Africa, finds himself in two places at once: in Dakar, a modern city in Senegal, and in a mythic kingdom in his mind.

Loved This Book!
This was a great book written by Sonya Lalli, who is a new to me author. The writing was conversational, fresh and engaging, with most of the story told through the protagonists’ point of view.
In some places it was fun and flirty; however, there are many more serious, thoughtful places in the story, dealing with self doubt, self worth, and the need we all share to be seen and heard, and to be validated and appreciated by those we love. I enjoyed most of the characters very much, with the exception of a couple of misogynistic men whose words and actions were annoying, to say the least. An interesting look at relationships and cultural differences, especially within a family. The main narrator was great, as was the supporting cast. Most of the male voices were cringe worthy, however. 😬 It was still a terrific listen!

Perfect Bookboyfriend
Omg! i’m trying to discreetly cry on an airplane as i finished this book. She describes every girl’s insecurities perfectly, and the boy handles it wonderfully. The conversations on inequality among sex’s, and self realization and growth for the main character was inspiring. love love love it.

Cultural diversity
It was good to hear a more culturally diverse book. I wish there was less fluff in the middle and more to the ending.

Loved the book
Loved the story and the ethnic aspect of it. The narrator was really good and brought life to the story. However, at times I thought her pitch was too high and I didn’t like Jess’s impression.

The attempt of male voices
Overall a quick listen and I can relate to the story esp since I’m the oldest daughter of immigrants but the narrator’s attempt on male voices would take me out of the story.

Thank you!
I love this spin on a hockey romance story! I love when authors do not step around uncomfortable real world issues. Would have loved an epilog but thats just me. Well done.
