Publisher's summary

In this romantic-comedy novella, the sexiest player in the NFL and a small-town librarian prove that when opposites attract, their chemistry can be game changing.

Simone Thompson wakes up in a Vegas hotel suite to discover three things:

  • Her headache might kill her.
  • The guy spooned behind her isn't some random Vegas hookup...it's James Sumner, the NFL's bad-boy wide-receiver and her twin brother's teammate.
  • There's a ring on her finger - you know...the finger.

As part of a football family, Simone knows all about the game, the good, the bad and the ugly. That's why she joined her brother's trip to Vegas in the first place - to keep an eye on him, not to end up entangled with her crush. Her very out-of-her-league crush.

James has always had the hots for Simone, and now that they're married, he sees an opening to prove to her he's more than just a playboy and that they really do belong together. But if he's really going to win over his bookish princess, he'll need to execute the perfect play....

Well played

I loved it. This book was a bit short. There was room for a full on sport romance comedy but quality novellas is a dying brand so I was glad. Tasteful maybe mild romance, clean language and interesting story line

Cute Novella

This is an easy listen straight forward novella. It is quite predictable but it was a perfect listen on a long run.

Short and cute

Very cute short listen. Very predictable, but who cares, it was adorable! I like short stories like this one for when I go on long walks.

Heart felt and sweet.

This novella was so amazing, I only wish is was longer. Very warm and a sweet filler while looking for other books to read. Maybe G.S. Carr can write a series about the other team members mentioned.

sweet story....

I appreciate a good love story that's not overly sexualized! Just enough suspense to keep one wanting to find out how it ends. I do think a better/ younger sounding male actor would have been better, however.

Well written and narrated novella

In the prolific outpouring of stories on racial couples that are new on the market, this story is refreshing. The couple is of multiple ethnic backgrounds and that’s just part of who they are not all of who they are. They’re both intelligent and well read and connect on that level. The matter of fact handling of the NFL aspect of the story was not overplayed. It isn’t the main story and is handled well as an aspect of the story.

The couple was developed well for the novella and I felt invested in them. I liked each of them and felt their attraction to each other, pain, and frustration. I was cheering for them.

The only characters not developed was Sam. His appearance at the end of the story as a catalyst was not in character from what we were given. I was thrilled for the rationalization used but didn’t buy the leap in character change within two weeks.

As a novella, I liked that there’s no guarantee of a HEA, but the couple are going to explore who they are together. It appears that they’ll have a HEA and we hope that they will. All in all, a well executed storyline.

The narrators did an excellent job. I recommend this novella for that pick me up between heavier books or a 2 hour drive when you don’t want to leave a book hanging.

Just Right!

I enjoyed the story, the two narrators and the length was perfect. Not too long at all for a pre-order bedtime code. This is my first time hearing this author and hopefully not the last. So good!

Cute and quick.

This short story was entertaining. I loved the connection and buildup between the two main characters. I didn’t like the voice of the make narrator but other than that I thoroughly enjoyed this.
