Publisher's summary

Brent Mason and Hayden Winstead can't stand each other. She plans exclusive parties for her rich family's charities; he's a rough-and-tumble cop who rigs explosives for a living. Could two people be any less suited for conversation? They think not and prefer to keep it that way.

Unfortunately, their two best friends are deeply, disgustingly in love. Forced together, the mutual attraction simmering beneath the surface of Brent and Hayden's non-relationship grows with every argument until it explodes into a scintillating night of mind-blowing sex. And it won't be the last, as far as Brent is concerned.

Hayden has a secret, though. Her father's company is relying on a merger to save them from financial ruin, and only Hayden's marriage to the CEO's wealthy son can secure the deal. If she's to protect her family, she'll have to forget about Brent - and he has no intention of being forgotten.

2 ½ stars. I did not like the plot and conflicts.

But parts were good.

My main problem was heroine stupidity. Twice she did something I couldn’t buy. In one of them someone does something bad to Brent and frames Hayden. When Brent confronts Hayden, she is surprised but does not deny it. She leaves him because he believed the evidence instead of trusting her. And then she does something unbelievable.

But I enjoyed the sex scenes.

I really liked the author’s first book “Protecting What’s His.”

The audiobook narrator Alice Chapman was fine.

Genre: contemporary romance

What in the hell?

The narrator’s voice! Omg. It is quite literally the worst performance I’ve ever heard. Distracting? Understatement of the year. Sweetheart, NO ONE talks the way you spoke for this book. I’m all for enunciation and speaking clearly but when it detracts from the story because it sounds like a speech impediment? Not ok. I really liked the story though!!!!

Hate-flirting makes up for the TSTL rich girl plot

“He kicked his caveman in the nuts and focused on her.”
Yay for cavemen who talk as hard as they- … And whoo! The chemistry as Brent and Hayden hate-flirt is only topped by the chemistry when they hate- … Yeah, this author’s books are dirty, so if you prefer your romances closer to cozy than crass, this book is not for you. Her books are risky for me, as the odds are 50-50 whether I’m on board for the dirty or whether the crass crosses my lines. But, this particular series worked for me and this book was a favorite.

“He’s sock guy?!”
The comedy is strong in this one, especially with the previous couple joining in for a lot of four-way ball busting. You don’t need to have heard 1 or 2, but I recommend listening to book 3 (Officer Off Limits) before starting this one.

“Did you tell her about the leg thing?”
The one thing that chapped my undies was the forced marriage plot for rich girl Hayden. The whole needing to marry for money schtick only works in regency romance. Hayden’s got a brain and backbone yet uses neither. There are multiple points where conflict could have been resolved with simple conversation. She’s also got her own trust fund, yet that money source is ignored in service to building the Big Scene. Yes, yes, the Big Scene was funny and heartfelt. It was just one too many cliche pills to swallow to get there … or maybe a dozen cliche pills. Rich people’s problems are so not my jam.
Thank goodness for working man Brent, the sexiest cop with the dirtiest mouth. His being a cop barely signifies, but that’s okay, because the cuffs are put to much better use when he’s off the clock.

Tessa Bailey can do no wrong

Asking For Trouble is another awesome addition to the Line of Duty series. The passion in the love/hate relationship between Brent and Hayden was fantastic.

Alice Chapman isn't my favorite narrator, but she did a pretty good job voicing all the parts.

Favourite book from the series

Brent was definitely my favourite book boyfriend form this series. They were complete opposites but matched so well. I loved not just the couples storyline but also Hayden's family storyline. This was the spiciest book out of the series.

Asking For Trouble Audiobook Review

📚BOOK REVIEW📚
Asking for Trouble by Tessa Bailey
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
220/250
Book 4 in the Line of Duty series stars Hayden and Brent. Brent Mason is a hard working cop helping to support his family and Hayden hails from a rich family and plans charity parties. This is an opposites attract, enemies to lovers, almost forced proximity romance. Brent is absolutely what made this book. He is a hard working, honest, devoted, dirty talking man in uniform, need I say more?!?!
I have 1 more book to finish this series, but don't own it yet and am working on my current TBR list for the rest of this year, so I will have to finish this series later.

Asking for Trouble.

Good start for Brent and Hayden coming from two different backgrounds. One from high class soecity and the other from middle class. But with that much difference work their way to the many difference and coming to an understanding that love brings great things into their lives and the mistakes of their families will no define theirs.
