About this listen

Watch out for the assassin’s claws…

Five Portuguese cat shifter brothers, paid killers who only target society’s worst targets, probably shouldn’t be as downright fun to spend time with as these ones. It’s the family business—they fight together, they die together.

Whether they’re working as a group or alone, the Moreno brothers are a tight unit who protect their own. Are there dark scenes where bad guys get what’s coming to them? Absolutely. There are also way too many moments of absurd hilarity, hijinks, and pure joy. And there’s the ninja bunnies….

This bundle includes all five books of the Assassin’s Claws series in its entirety, so get ready to settle in and binge a series that will keep you on the edge of your seat, eager to hear more, and laughing.

Books included are:

  • Walk Tall: Clay Moreno is hired to assassinate the American president. He knew the case was going to be tough, but the last thing he expected to find was his mate…the president’s own son.
  • Stand Out: Introverted omega Gib Moreno is a stealthy assassin who’s far from thrilled to find his true mate while on a job. Especially when his mate is someone as loud and well-known as HRH Prince Partypants.
  • Kick Back: Ginger-haired omega Dear Moreno is known for two things: his sassy wardrobe and his snark. Wanting to find out who wants a priest taken out, Dear never expects to discover the priest is his true mate.
  • Jump Up: When the brothers are tasked to rescue a pregnant, imprisoned omega, Nash Moreno is shocked when he’s his true mate.
  • Dance Around: Dan Moreno scented his true mate two decades earlier and ruined his chance, creating an enemy instead. Forced to work together, their secret is out and both of their families are calling them idiots.

Note: While Mpreg exists in this world, there isn’t a birth in every book. But what every book does have is killer cats, ninja bunnies, and life-changing mating bites. Get ready for naughty-knotty fun and lowball humor as only Susi Hawke can provide.

A great companion to our world today. Trust is hidden under many layers and not easy to unveil.

I have found a favorite author in Susi Hawke, whether she collaborates or singlehandedly write her own books, they never fail to amaze me. In this particular bundle, the last story was my favorite. I grew to love that sassy ninja bunny and seeing him actually finding his own HEA was glorious. Also there's just something about the enemies to lovers trope that never gets old hahaha.

Definitely recommend! It was a treat to get to know these brothers and their mates along the way.

Perfecto

I understand that this is a compilation of all of the audiobooks from this series, but the different narrators make it a bit distracting. Does Darius have a Hispanic or high English accent? Each narrator does the voices differently and that makes it a bit odd when you listen to the audiobook all at once. Other than that, it was good.

Can be a bit disorienting at times

I really like the story in its entirety, but the narration for the first 3 books was hard to get through. Zane however was great.

Great story, so so narration.

Was recommended by a friend for MM Book club. Sounded silly, but was actually really sweet. The last story was my favorite!

Nice mpreg action series

Books work great together and honestly I’ve loved telling my friends about this book and the humor was great. But I wish the voice actor had been the same. It threw me off. But I really like this series and I plan to listen to it again.

So funny

Boring story, lackluster performance. Couldn’t even get through half before I gave up. Wish I could just block this author from showing.

Waste if time and money.

I only listened because I could not return it...I just hate when men act so weak like females...it's so stereotyped...

Did a female write this...it was so stupid...

Each of the characters is paper thin and the humor and "witty banter" is childish and simple - to the point that about half the characters are mostly irritating assholes. A plot does appear about 3/4 the way through the second book - and the inclusion of other shifters other than large preditors was novel.

potential but stupid

Walk Tall
This first book shouldn't even be called a book. There's the prologue that barely sets up the concept of the shifter assassin family, then there's 90% smut that culminates in a very, VERY rushed and poorly delivered explanation of shifters, mates, and true mates that makes the president's son make a life-changing decision after just a week of banging a guy, instantly regretting it, then instantly regretting it again shortly after. More rushed explanations (very redundant at this point) about shifters leaves the reader feeling overwhelmed and also condescended to.

Stand Out
It's pretty sad that it takes more than halfway through the second book before we get any assassinations, and even longer before we get one of the main family to do any sort of killing at all. The redeeming factor of this book is that Gib as an omega is more dominant and his alpha is more submissive, which is at least a change of pace from these stories.

Kick Back
The changing of the narrator between these books hits hard in this one where Gib's mate goes from a heavier accent to suddenly being British. Beyond that, it's rather hard to describe this book because I don't recall much happening. A very slow book compared to the others.

Jump Up
A lot more murder and blood and action in this one, but it reverts back to the big strong alpha and small, delicate, must be protected omega. Fair warning: a lot of content warnings for this one.

Dance Around
I predicted the twist presented in this book by the end of "Jump Up," making the build up at the start of this book feel redundant and slightly tedious. A lot of moments of "just sit down, shut up, and have a real conversation instead of jumping to conclusions constantly" that, when they keep happening, left me feeling frustrated rather than sympathetic. Also gives us strong alpha and strong omega but ignores it all, overwriting it with hormones and mating heat that wasn't even touched on in the other books despite them all having alpha/omega pairings to make the otherwise brilliant and independent omega into little more than a whimpering, cock-craving bottom.

Hit and miss
