Lovely

Absolutely loved this! It reminded me more of a Mary Calmes/Greg Tremblay combo, but it was just wonderful. Not Mr. Lanyon's usual crime story but a story about love and second chances. Short and sweet. Packed with emotions. Friends to lovers to ex-lovers to lovers again. Nicely done! Great narration. As usual, Mr. Lanyon found the perfect narrator! Highly recommended. Grab some hot chocolate and snuggle up and enjoy! :-)

Awesome Holiday Read

Audiobook Review December 2019:
It's been 5 years since I originally read Baby It's Cold and I loved it just as much now as then. Some might call Rocky and Jesse's story a Hallmark-y rom-com, and not everyone enjoys them and if I'm completely honest I only like a small portion but Baby It's Cold is 10 times better. There's friendship, second chances, bickering, heat, and plenty of heart. As for the narrator, this is the first Michael Ferraiuolo but I hope to listen to many more. His voice makes the story come alive as if it's unfolding right in front of. Brilliant and fun holiday gem.

Original Review December 2014
Not much I can say about poor Rocky and Jesse that won't be a spoiler. Second chances can always be an interesting read because there are so many possibilities and revelations. And Josh Lanyon doesn't disappoint with said possibilities and revelations. It's all wrapped up in a snowstorm, good food, and of course a third party.

A Short & Sweet Second Chance Christmas Romance

What's not to enjoy about being transported to a snowy mountain cabin with Michael Ferraiuolo's voice in your ears for two hours? "Baby, It's Cold" has just enough angst, playful banter, and chemistry between former friends-to-lovers Jesse and Rocky to make for a sweet and engaging second chance romance, and is an easy listen.

Nicely done

If the author isn't a chef, I am impressed at the culinary details. I could imagine the scenes and without any expectations, I enjoyed it. Narrator did well with male, female and accents for the characters.

Wow! Emotional little listen!

Josh Lanyon is about the only author that can really pack such an emotional punch in such a short story. The characters have so much depth and just very relatable. A love story that is not over the top but will leave you feeling very satisfied!

Okay short listen.

So, I missed that this is a MM love story, which is not normally my genre. The story was kinda entertaining, but didn't really hold my attention. I found I was thankful this is a short story. The narrator did a good job of different voices, so I knew which character was speaking.

3 stars = I liked it and it was a GOOD listen

This is a solid three-star book. By that I mean that I enjoyed the story, enjoyed the characters, was entertained, and did not feel as though I wasted my time, but it doesn't necessarily stand out among the thousands of other books I've read or listened to. I'm sure some may see this as a slight, but it's not a bad thing in my personal rating system.

I found Baby, it's Cold to be an interesting twist on a holiday story and second chance romance, of sorts. I mean, how many people would go to the trouble of pretending to have been hired to cook for their ex in attempt to get them alone so that they can discuss their break-up and, if not reconcile, at least find a way to be friends? Seriously? It is a rather convoluted plan, but within minutes of spending time in Jesse's head, it made sense on a character level. Of course, very little goes as planned and I couldn't help but feel for Jesse. I groaned at the uncomfortable situation Jesse found himself in when Rocky's agent showed up. Just as I felt bad for him when he started showing signs of coming down with a cold. I found myself laughing out loud more than once over the course of the two-hour listen. It was a solid story with a great narrative performance that kept me engaged and entertained for a couple hours. So while I enjoyed it, I didn't necessarily love it.

This is the second audiobook I've listened to that was narrated by Michael Ferraiuolo and I have to admit that I had no idea. His performance on Baby, it's Cold was drastically different from the other audiobook I've listened to - not in his talent, but in the accents of the characters. For me, that says a great deal about his narrative talents and all of it good.

I look forward to checking out more of Lanyon's writing and Ferraiuolo's narration.

NOTE: I listened to this title via Audible's Romance Package.

Shorter than I’d like but very sweet

Well written as I would expect from Josh Lanyon and a lovely performance overall. I would have liked more time to get to know the lead characters and see where they’ll go from here but I enjoyed what was on offer.

The bulk of the story takes place over a single snowy evening and things get deliciously awkward (pun intended) when plans for a romantic dinner go awry.
There’s humor and heartache throughout. There’s some sexual innuendo and a bit of light reminiscing but there are no explicit sex scenes.

Michael Ferraiuolo does a nice job performing the story and gives each character an easily recognizable voice. If you liked this then I highly recommend other stories by Josh Lanyon.

I found this as part of the monthly subscription romance package so it didn’t cost me a credit.

Of remembrance past

This short reminds me of those made for television holiday movies. I loved those movies and the hope for Love they bought to my heart. But always wished the romantic leads were men. In Baby, It’s Cold, I got my wish. And I loved the ending. In short, perfection.
