About this listen

Causing trouble has never been more fun.

Eli Wright doesn’t follow anyone’s rules. When he was 17, his parents threw him out of the house for being gay. He’s been making his own way for the past five years and he’s not about to change himself for anyone’s expectations. For now, romance can wait. There are plenty of hot guys to keep him entertained until he finds someone special.

Quinn Maloney kept the peace and his closeted boyfriend’s secrets for 10 years. One morning he got a hell of a wake-up along with his coffee. Not only did the boyfriend cheat on him, but he’s marrying the girl he knocked up. Inviting Quinn to the baby’s baptism is the last straw. Quinn’s had enough of gritting his teeth to play nice. His former boyfriend is in for a rude awakening, because Quinn’s not going to sit quietly on the sidelines. In fact, he has the perfect scheme, and he just needs to convince the much younger, eyeliner-wearing guy who winks at him in a bar to help him out.

Eli’s deception is a little too good, and soon he has everyone believing they’re madly in love. In fact, he’s almost got Quinn believing it himself....

Fake to Real

Eli is enjoying life and having fun. Quinn is still recovering from a bad breakup. He is still caught up in the whole family. Eli doesn't mind helping out but I like how he quickly realizes that Quinn needs more and he wants to give to him. I like how they seem to be moving together.

Sexy, emotional, and fun, great narration

This is the first m/m I’ve read that included daddy kink. I never knew that it could be so hot. It was so well-done in this book and didn’t go overboard that I actually wanted more of the daddy kink than the spanking kink that Eli and Quinn explored near the end.

I’m glad that Quinn wasn’t so much older than Eli. I didn’t like how Quinn was perceived to be such an old guy, too old for Eli, when Quinn was only thirty-five and Eli was going on twenty-three. Twelve year age gap isn’t a big deal. Besides, Eli had a lot of life experience that made him older than he looked. It was a little irritating how Eli’s best friend Nate was overprotective and judgmental about Eli dating an older guy.

Eli and Quinn had to overcome their insecurities and fears in order to commit to each other. They had amazing chemistry but also had strong emotions for each other. I liked how their relationship developed from hot, kinky sex to affection and romance.

I liked that Eli was a strong person who could stand up for himself as well as for his partner. I liked how he supported Quinn from the start, when he was the fake boyfriend, and to the end, when he was Quinn’s boyfriend for real. I liked how Quinn saw and treated Eli as an equal, how he adored Eli and wanted to make him happy. Not to mention he was a fabulous lover. And a sincere guy.

This book was a lot of fun, very sexy, and emotional. It had everything I expect in a romance novel though I could have done without the spanking kink.

I enjoyed the audiobook narration very much. The narrator performed the sex scenes, the characters’ voices, and their emotions very well. I especially liked how naughty Eli sounded whenever he called Quinn “daddy” or “please, daddy.” Eli was such a character. But I’m glad that their relationship was about more than the role play; it was about two men owning their sexuality and not hiding who they loved.

Better in Audio!

I read this book awhile back and thought it was just so so. About a confused thirty something who was wimpy and use to being dogged by his firefighter boyfriend and then dumped and cheated on. All of a sudden becomes dominant and a beast in the bedroom when he meets a man a lot younger than him. The narration was awesome and helped the story quite a bit. I give it two thumbs up!

Needed a better ending

It was good but ended was overly rushed and could’ve been done better.

Great job on the voice performance though

3.5 stars- Mixed Bag but loads of heat

Bad Boyfriend is the first of the Bad in Baltimore series I’ve read and it was a bit of a mixed bag for me. Character wise, I liked Eli and Quinn, though they did tend to frequently frustrate me. Story wise it was good, though a bit rushed in the relationship area. As for the chemistry, heat abounded. Daddy kink is really not my thing and while I wrinkled my nose occasionally when that made an appearance, it wasn’t a focal point of the book or relationship and I was able to roll with it. I ended up reading and listening to this one, and can say that the audio is a fun upgrade if you enjoy the series.

I’m always up for May-December romances and was in the mood for something with a bit of heat recently, so after listening to the sample, it seemed like a great time to read Bad Boyfriend. I really liked Eli and Quinn together as they complemented one another and offered plenty of fun banter that had me smiling frequently. What was more difficult to digest were the main characters themselves. Eli rubbed me wrong initially because he seemed excessively pushy and opinionated. Happily, as I got to know him and learned his background, I found his “mood swings” and in your face defensive posturing more palatable. Conversely, Quinn’s situation struck me odder the more I got to know him and the more Peter entered the plot. I simply didn’t get it and I spent more time trying to make sense of Quinn’s acceptance of the odd arrangement than I did just enjoying the book. I think Bad Boyfriend is one of those times that rolling with it is paramount to enjoying the story.

Narrator wise I liked the performance by Chet Daniel and wouldn’t hesitate to pick up more audiobooks he narrates in the future. His cadence and delivery was easy and pleasant to listen to. That said, I did find myself flipping to the book to follow some of the discussions because it was difficult to differentiate who was talking at times. Overall, Bad Boyfriend was good with a nice dose of heat, but had some details that kept me from loving it.

Bad Boyfriend

~ 5 Stars all around, and I would totally give more if I could ~

I loved everything about this audiobook.

The writing, premise and story. The characters and their personalities. The friends and family drama involvement. The narration by Chet Daniel. In my opinion everything about this book was fun and emotional and really hot to hear about. And I was completely, yet pleasantly surprised by all the kinky scenes as well. This book was just written so well and the best narrator was picked for the audio version too.

Quinn’s ex, Peter, leaves him for a woman, basically out of nowhere after 10 years of being together and living together, and OMG, they're having a baby and getting hitched… WHAT?!?!?! I really felt bad for Quinn through most of the book, until I realized he was basically enabling his ex, by allowing Peter to treat him the way he did. Quinn should have cut ties from the whole lot of them until they realized what they were doing was harmful to Quinn’s feelings. I also didn’t really appreciate how Quinn was portrayed like he was so old. I mean he was only 34-35 and only like 10years older than Eli, which to me is not a huge difference, but he just seemed so ancient during parts of this book. I do think that led us into the whole daddy kink, though, and that was a great addition to this book. Like, OMG, the first time Eli says, “Spank me, daddy.” I was completely caught in this book hook, line, and sinker; you could not tear me away from this one until I was finished with it. The heat and chemistry we get between these two characters is completely smoking hot, off the charts from basically the moment they meet. And every sexual interaction we got after their first time was ridiculously HOT as well, and I would have been happy with more of that in the book.

We met Eli in the previous book of this series, as the fun friend of Kellan and Nate. Eli has the best personality, he’s snarky and bold and fun, yet he has insecurities that he tries to hide just like everyone else. I loved that he just calls out Quinn for everything that happens and doesn’t let him get away with not facing facts. I think that part of the fun in this book was watching them trying to figure out how they meshed together outside the bedroom and not just in it, because we all know they work perfectly together in it. Neither of them have had “good” previous relationships before so seeing them struggle a bit to make it work together was great. It was insta-lust for sure, but I’m glad they didn’t instantly fall in love with each other, and that it took them time and effort to get to that place in their relationship. I really would have been happy with several hundred more pages of these two.

Audio – holy smokes, Chet Daniels really turns up the heat in his character voices for these two. This is one of those books that is already great to read, but even more fantastic to listen to if the correct narrator is picked to voice it. He had me completely enthralled wanting to not miss a minute of this book and I loved every second of it. He did such a great job I cannot wait to hear anything else he narrates - I will buy them all. And I really, really hope *fingers crossed* he gets to do the rest of this series when they come out in audio too.

Bad Boyfriend

Quinn thinks he has a perfect life. He has been with Peter for ten years though they have hidden the true identity of their relationship. One morning he comes home from work early to find Peter leaving, that he has been cheating and gotten a woman pregnant. The icing on the cake is Peter's family is like his family and Peter names him as the godfather of the baby. So he decides to bring a boyfriend to the christening.

Eli is always out to have fun. He doesn't mind wreaking a little havoc so when the hot older man asks him to accompany him to a friends christening he goes. But when he finds out its to make the baby daddy jealous he goes over the top

K. A. Mitchell does an amazing job creating some characters you can love to hate. The first book her MC was one you wanted to slap a few times. In this one, it is the ex. OH, boy did I dislike Peter. We do get cameos of the characters from the first ook since they are Eli's best friends.
The story is also good if you like a good revenge plot and a good romance. My only issue is there is a lot of sex and Eli calls Quinn daddy a lot. There is light BDSM with Quinn spanking Eli. I felt the story was fine without that bit, but that's just my personal taste.. the daddy kink just isn't for me. having said that, I loved the story itself and the characters.
If you like ex-navy men, sexy bad boys, May/December, some light BDSM with a daddy kink, an allover good romance, you will like this one

Chet Daniel does a great job of narrating. He brings the characters to life and brings out their personalities.

This book is H.O.T.

WHEW.....this book is H. O. T. HOT!Daddy Quinn takes Eli in hand and there is chemistry jumping of the pages right from the beginning.

We met Eli in the first book and for me he stole every scene he was in, so I was excited to read his book. He comes off as flighty but there is so much more to Eli then what he shows. He has a strength at his core from being on the streets from a young age and has walls built high and tight.

Quinn is physically attracted to Eli but he thinks he is a brat and a tease. Who better to take to the christening of his Godchild? The Godchild that just happens to belong to your ex and the woman he cheated on you with! What starts out as a joke quickly becomes so much more. But is it too much too fast?

The sex between Quinn and Eli is scorching and fun to read, but the connection they have outside the bedroom was an even better listen for me. Chet Daniel is back narrating and he does a wonderful job with the characters. His telling of the relationship kicked the story up a notch for me. I am quickly becoming a fan of Mr. Daniel.
