Publisher's summary

Bane County is an Ongoing Saga . . .
Mystery, Suspense, an edge-of-your-seat Thriller with characters you’ll fall in love with. An old-school, heart-pounding, coming-of-age Horror series with 1,000s of 5-Star Reviews.
The large river-island of Bane County has a troubled past; but some histories are eagerly forgotten, especially those written in blood.
Nestled into the foothills of the National Wildlife Refuge, the small rural town of Silver Canyon seems idyllic to most; but a long-slumbering evil is about to reawaken.
Seventeen-year-old Bryce McNeel is your average teenage boy, living on a cattle ranch with his grandparents. Well, average genius, but he prefers to keep that fact to himself, no one likes a know-it-all.
When Bryce learns of a series of grisly deaths and mutilations that occurred decades earlier, his curiosity gets the better of him. Together with his cousin, Jackson, Bryce sets out to learn more about the macabre event; but as they delve deeper into the history and legends of Bane County, the two boys are horrified by what they find.
Unfortunately, history has a way of repeating itself.
As friends and neighbors begin to go missing, or worse, they find themselves embroiled in a battle for their young lives.

I have 3500 audio books this is in my top 5!!!

WOW! This author is AMAZING!!! I'm not a virtual Voice fan but this was ok. I get goosebumps thinking about a J R Rice / Sean Runnette pairing. (even RC Bray would be great!)

Great background and character development in the beginning. The stage is set beautifully for the action. Scary scenes ARE ACTUALLY scary. OMG There's a scene where they nonchalantly look over and the creature peaks in the doorway. It's like an audio jumpscare!!

character developemnt A+
Storyline A+
Suspense A+
Scary A+
Pace A+

I cannot say enough.except PLEASE use a real narrator. This series should DEFINITELY be made into a movie.

I have 3500 books and 90% are horror (hate fluffy fantasy & hate sparkly vampires) This series is in my top 5 (so far

WELL WORTH A CREDIT - I'd literally use 2 credits on it!!!

the story

I enjoyed how the story. It wasn't your typical werewolf turning another person into a werewolf love story. This was a well-thought-out story. I enjoy this type of werewolf story.

The story was well written, great detail and very scary. Held you on edge!

I wasn’t too happy with the robot narrator, it confused some of the conversations, it has no feeling. It’s too bad because it was a great story. The only reason I pushed through the narration, was that the story was good.

What a werewolf should be

Totally surprised by this book. I love werewolf books and this one hits the spot! If you're looking for that pathetic Twilight 4 legged version of a werewolf you'll be disappointed!!

The werewolf story that is more realistic

It’s a really good take on the werewolf mythos. Plus it makes the existence of a werewolf possible. I really like the characters. Felt it was a slow start. The only part of the ending I didn’t like is that the MC didn’t get with the girl. I mean she is a Gypsy why doesn’t she go with him to Stanford. I feel like Bryce will come back and she has a kid that he will be raising with her

The entire series is good...

I usually avoid Virtual Voice books but I really enjoy the horror genre so I took a shot. I will freely admit that the Virtual Voice has issues but is much improved over other books I have listened too. You lose some of the dynamics but overall it was OK. I would say that they should make sure the AI pronounces the words the same between books.

The Story, on the other hand, had no clinkers across the five volumes. (I just picked up book 3.5 so I haven't listened to it yet.) I thought they were all well written and engaging thoughout. They were all entertaining and the story built to a satisfying climax. I would recomend this series to anyone who loves horror/monster books. J.R. Rice is worth the time to check out.

I will probably buy the books going forward so I can mentally add the dynamics I missed in the Audible versions.
