Publisher's summary

The people of High Moor are united in horror at the latest tragedy to befall their small town. As dawn breaks, the town is left to count the cost and mourn its dead, while breathing a collective sigh of relief.

John Simpson, the apparent perpetrator of the horrific murders, is in police custody. The nightmare is over.

Isn't it?

Detective Inspector Phil Fletcher and his partner, Constable Olivia Garner, have started to uncover some unsettling evidence during their investigations of John Simpson's past - evidence that supports his impossible claims: that he is a werewolf, and will transform on the next full moon to kill again.

However a new threat is now lurking in the shadows. A mysterious group have arrived in High Moor, determined to keep the existence of werewolves hidden. And they will do anything to protect their secret. Anything at all...

Stuck by Moonstruck!

I didn't think the story would improve, but I was wrong. Book two in the High Moor series was pretty good. Though it still ran at an über-fast pace, there were a few bits that weren't necessary. I'm mostly speaking of the sexual tension between characters (no spoilers). I enjoyed it and am moving on to book three!

Vicious and Bloody

Graeme Reynolds has a talent for brutal action and gore, perfect for a tale about werewolves in a battle for survival. As sequels go, Moonstruck is solid as hell. It delivers exactly the way a sequel should: take the great aspects of the original and crank them up. More werewolves, more violence, more intrigue. Perfection.

If you're easily distracted by thick accents, this book might not be for you. But Chris Barnes is a fantastic narrator and definitely adds to the atmosphere of the story.

Highly recommended for fans of werewolves, serious action, and explosive finales.

Who says sequels have to suck?

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would definitely recommend the High Moor series to anyone who is a fan of horror and werewolves in particular. No half naked, dreamy wolves here. These are gritty, gory, horrible creatures.

What was one of the most memorable moments of High Moor 2: Moonstruck?

It's always hard to answer this sort of question without spoilers, but let's just say that the werewolf kills and battles are intense.

What does Chris Barnes bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

His natural accent brings a reality to the characters that other narrators might not be able to capture, and for the most part, his other accents are excellent as well.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I gasped audibly several times, and if it had been a movie, there were definitely parts that I would have covered my eyes for. Very cringe-worthy gore, but well done.

Any additional comments?

I can't wait for part three!

Totally awesome sequel.

What made the experience of listening to High Moor 2: Moonstruck the most enjoyable?

To me the success of the first book has caused some disturbance in Graeme Reynolds brain, and sent his brutality meter to 100%. Believe me when i say no-one is safe from the razor sharp teeth and claws of the werewolves in this book. With Chris Barnes fantastic narration to bring it all to life\death it was a blood soaked treat.

What about Chris Barnes’s performance did you like?

Chris has a huge array of different access and mannerisms for each character and he carries it off seamlessly and with such enthusiasm you can't help but be carried along with the action.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I think i was only surprised by the fact that, unlike other books, where on the brink of disaster, someone saves the day for, lets say a child. Here they don't.

Any additional comments?

Absolutely pleasure to listen to such an incredible book. Book 3 started.

A rollercoaster ride of blood and guts

If you could sum up High Moor 2: Moonstruck in three words, what would they be?

Gory
Gripping
Heartbreaking

What was one of the most memorable moments of High Moor 2: Moonstruck?

Olivia vs Connie

What does Chris Barnes bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I love the accents he does. The narrator has a wonderful way of bringing the characters to life, and really letting the reader feel the 'setting'. In my head they would have sounded different.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The relationship between John and Marie. But there were many points that tugged at my heart strings.

Any additional comments?

Wonderful read. I never liked werewolves too much, only read this because a friend recommended it, but I might have actually changed my mind after these books. Great work by the author and the narrator added an extra layer of awesome.

HIGH MOOR 2: MOONSTRUCK

The storyline wasn't bad, but what impresses me least in any story, by any author, is the use profanity to the extreme. When the ratio of swearing to the use of other language in the book is warped to the point that it appears evident the author curses like a banshee. While the truth 'may not' support this conclusion I see no evidence that says the author doesn't live to curse. My overall impression of this book will not compel me to read anything written by Mr. Barnes in the immediate future. On another note, I am sure that using a Scottish narrator leant credibility to this story, while at same time the narrator was very very hard to understand, which took away from the story.
