In February 2009, Dan Maccarone, a digital product design executive who works with some of the world’s top brands, walked through the doors of what would be his new bar, Destination, in Manhattan’s East Village. The overwhelming stale-beer smell, ruined floor, and “Happy New Year 2008” banners that hung from the walls were the least of his worries. He had just six weeks and a budget of $150,000 to turn the place into the neighborhood’s new favorite hang-out - and start turning a profit.

Story
My name is Anthony Vano, and I recently retired as a bartender. Tip the Bartender is a collection of anecdotes, stories, and conversations collected during my 20 years of slinging drinks from behind a bar. My favorite part of bartending is that it offers countless opportunities for amazing conversations with guests and fellow bartenders alike. Everybody has a story to tell or a confession to make. An exciting achievement. A haunting regret. A record to set straight. A powerful "aha" moment or lesson learned - wisdom that simply must be shared.

Readers will come to understand the beauty of beer and the sources of its flavor, as well as learn which beers are worth our time and which are not. With tongue in cheek, the author examines beer's historical connections to the Crusades, the Hundred Years' War, and modern-day soccer riots. He talks frankly (and joyfully) about the effects of alcohol on the body and brain, he defends beer from its enemies, and ushers it out of the frat house and into the dining room.

Story
In Proof, Adam Rogers reveals alcohol as a miracle of science, going deep into the pleasures of making and drinking booze—and the effects of the latter. The people who make and sell alcohol may talk about history and tradition, but alcohol production is really powered by physics, molecular biology, organic chemistry, and a bit of metallurgy—and our taste for those products is a melding of psychology and neurobiology.

Story
And a Bottle of Rum tells the raucously entertaining story of America as seen through the bottom of a drinking glass. With a chapter for each of 10 cocktails, Wayne Curtis reveals that the homely spirit once distilled from the industrial waste of the exploding sugar trade has managed to infiltrate every stratum of New World society. Curtis takes us from the taverns of the American colonies, to the plundering pirate ships off the coast of Central America, to the watering holes of pre-Castro Cuba, and to the kitsch-laden tiki bars of 1950s America.

Huckelbridge shows how beer has evolved along with the country - from a local and regional product (once upon a time, every American city had its own brewery and iconic beer brand) to the rise of global megabrands, like Budweiser and Miller, that are synonymous with US capitalism. We learn of George Washington's failed attempt to brew beer at Mount Vernon with molasses instead of barley and of the 19th-century "beer barons", like Captain Frederick Pabst, Adolphus Busch, and Joseph Schlitz.

Great way to learn the basics of Bartending
"Bartending Audio Crash Course" is an engaging and insightful journey into the realm of mixology. Seamlessly weaving fundamental techniques, gripping narratives, and practical advice, it offers an immersive auditory experience that caters to budding bartenders and cocktail enthusiasts alike.
The course is narrated with an energetic tone that lends vibrancy to the bartending profession. It skillfully guides listeners through all the aspects of bartending, from setting up the bar to concocting an array of intricate cocktails. The course is also enriched with intriguing real-life stories and captivating insights into the history and culture of drinks, making it an enthralling listen.
One of the standout features of this course is its explicit and easy-to-follow cocktail recipes. Despite the challenge of explaining visual tasks through an auditory medium, the creators have cleverly mitigated this issue by including a follow-along PDF manual. This invaluable visual guide complements the audio explanations perfectly, enabling listeners to visualize techniques such as muddling or layering effectively.
However, even with the supplemental PDF, certain listeners may find they need additional resources or hands-on experience to fully grasp some techniques. But this slight shortcoming doesn't overshadow the course's overall efficacy.
In conclusion, "Bartending Audio Crash Course" is a well-executed, enjoyable, and informative guide for anyone looking to sharpen their bartending skills or deepen their understanding of mixology. With the added bonus of the follow-along PDF manual, it's an exceptional resource that would make a worthy addition to any audiobook collection.
