About this listen

For Ezra Payne and the Stealthy Tiger mercenaries, professionalism is everything. Hired to assist in the bitter, bloody fighting on the planet Hall, they quickly earn a decisive victory for their employer. They settle afterward in for a needed period of rebuilding, and a few months’ peace before moving on to the next contract.

But their respite does not last. More mercenaries, hired by the Allied Mercenary Command itself, land on Hall. They believe the Tigers’ employer to be league with the Word of Blake, a shadowy interstellar organization that worships technology, and which has been building its own empire among the worlds around Terra.

The Tigers want nothing of this battle, but war rages across the Inner Sphere. The hard-fought cease-fire cannot last, even on Hall, and when every faction is embittered and fueled by fervor, peace has no chance at all.

As a new conflict erupts, will the Stealthy Tigers’ BattleMechs be enough to save them? Or will the looming threat of renewed war engulf them in its fiery embrace?

I’m a huge Battletech fan, and I was super excited when I found out about this book. This book not only lived up to expectations, it exceeded them. There was combat, investigating, back stabbery, and of course, giant robots of doom. The narrator did a great here as well. I haven’t listened to any of his previous work, and I’ve just (while writing this review!) found out he narrated a new Shadowrun book as well! Give me the sequel to this book immediately. I’m off to listen to Shadowrun.

Battletech is back!

Long time Mechwarrior and Battletech fan, and I thoroughly enjoyed this one. I'm sure I speak for many when I say we appreciate the work of the people who collaborated to bring this to us all.

loved it

Great performance, though I have to admit, I miss the sound effects added with the other books audible hosts.

I would love to see more books in the series added to the library, I would happily purchase them!

It was like returning home again, to hear an honest to God BT story for the first time in I don't know how long. It could be nostalgia but I'd but it up there with the top tier of the old novels.

Battletech!

Book was good, different and can lead to more hope they keep making audio books. The old ones are abridged and BS. This is a nice clean listen and if you understand the lore makes you want to hear more.

Finally More Battletech!

The narrator and story were both top notch. I hope they continue to release new Battletech books in audio format. Author nailed it.

Great Battletech Book

Excellent read. Would like to see more Battletech Novels in this format. I have the two other “trilogy” sets on Audible & though they are good they seem shorter than this book. I would love to see more from this company.

Book review.

This unabridged novel captures the excitement and characteristic mecha feel of the old novels and tabletop game. The piloting feels like mecha combat, distinct from tanks or jets by the way their weapons spike reactor heat, the difference in mobility between units, and the occasional melee. I thought the characters were well developed, with both heroes and villains having clever moments and making mistakes. The political intrigue was also entertaining, and felt right at home in the BattleTech universe.

I was disappointed to find the other BattleTech collections available on audible are abridged, cutting out most of the excitement and character of the stories. I was delighted that Jason Schmetzer's book remained fully faithful to BattleTech storytelling, and highly recommend it.

Delightful return of BattleTech fiction.
