Erik West is an ex-combat medic. He and his best friend, marine recon sniper Jimmy "Rugrat" Rodriguez, have been thrown into another world. They've become one of the "cursed". Now they have to figure out this fantasy world, where cultivation, skills, and abilities must be grown...or death awaits.

Ascension is just around the corner, whatever that means. But they'll need to master magic and temper their bodies to survive. In a world where your personal strength is your greatest value, Erik and Rugrat have to start from the bottom. But they've cut their teeth in conflicts all across Earth and honed their skills over years of training while creating a bond and upholding their honors and oaths.

It's not a question of if they are ready for the 10 realms, but instead are the 10 realms ready for them?

Get it now.

Re-recorded

I love that this has been re-recorded. Thank you. I struggled to get through this the first time with the old voice talent. I really liked the storyline but didn't like how the old voice talent chose to do the voices. But now since Neil Hellegers re-recorded it is so much better. I re-listened to the first book and intend to buy the whole series now that it's been re-recorded.

New to the series but pretty decent.

Story was pretty decent for a cultivation LitRPG. Even had the all to common auction scene all good cultivation novels seem to always have.

my main gripe with this book is the rather flat people that make up the world. It gets better later in the story after a certain event I won't spoil. I am definitely going to keep listening to this series but I am really hoping this gets a bit better.

the cultivation aspect seems pretty good but I will admit that the cultivation aspect seems much stronger then the litRPG side. Seems like any spell can be created as long as the intent is there... aka the initial healing spells. Yet no other spells are created spell books are needed for it and that is locked behind a pay wall. If a minor heal spell is so easy to make and does not require any significant magical knowledge you would think everyone in this world would at least have some basic spells to heal themselves for minor things. But nope healers are super rare and super expensive. don't tell me that you can only do it if you have open mama gates. Eric only had one open when he created the minor heal. I get not having higher level spells, but basic stuff should be doable with proper intent.

The overall reading is pretty good and although I am griping in here a bit it is a pretty good story and I have not come across a military Isekai style novel so I will give it four stars in hopes the flat world characters gets better.

Rebuy Book

This is not a complaint about the book or the author, I actually like and enjoy the 10 realms.

My complaint is I purchased the two week curse years ago, with the original narrator. Now under my audible account, it says I need to buy the book again. Unacceptable Audible, I'll be reaching out to customer service if this is not corrected automatically.

Update:
This was not automatically corrected. I had to contact customer service and prove I purchased the book previously. They gave me a credit to repurchase it so it would be back in my library.

A new world, a new style, a new genre! Amazing

I have to start by saying that I had never even heard of LitRPG as a genre before listening to this book and now I am so excited by the whole concept. This stories central characters are ex-combat medics and mercenaries. The comradery and tone of the story was believable and relatable to me as a veteran. There are off color jokes and some strong language but not so much as to be vulgar simply for the shock value...instead it seasons the story and adds realism. I found myself fully engaged in the story and wishing I were there levelling up with the protagonists through the whole plot. I look forward to continuing through the realms very soon.

Strong Militaristic Element Makes this Unique

The militaristic element in The Two Week Curse makes this effort unique within the LitRPG Fantasy genre (at least among my studies so far). The listing of stats gets a lot of hate, but if you don't hate that sort of thing, you may find the tone of the storytelling refreshing. The story remains focused and moves along at satisfying paces, whereas many other stories wander a bit too much for my tastes. I'll be moving forward into the next book in the series.

The performance starts a bit weak, but becomes strong before too long.

I recommend this audiobook if you're a fan of the LitRPG fantasy genre.

This is amazing

This book just be out and became one of my top five without a doubt. If this story continues half as well as this first book, I am so excited to make it through this entire series. This author really did a fantastic job making both characters feel real and logical in their approach to formulating plans for the style of LITRPG book that so many seem to get wrong. well done!

On a sidenote, you will see mentioned in a lot of reviews that the story is slow to start. That might be true for someone else’s perspective however, I think it was exceptionally paced in the beginning to really make you connect with the characters before they hit you with the game mechanics.

The idea is new to me

Modern weapons taken to a magical world with goofy MCs. Very well narrated and a great story.

Not buying again.

So, if I could get a discount because I already own this but read by Todd vs Neil. I get it, Neil needs to get paid l. However it's the same book, with nothing new.

It was jarring to go from Todd to Neil. I loved the work and effort Todd put into this series by really defining voices that you just don't get with Neil.

Now for those of you just getting into this series I absolutely recommend you buying this version over the one with Todd if that's even still available. I also would recommend waiting for the re-release for all the books for cohesion in the narration and not having the jarring transition between narrators.

Finally! A great book with great characters and great writing!

I’ve been so bummed every litrpg/cultivation book I’ve found on audible since the Ritualist series. So many authors love to write some young stupid kid as the MC that fell into some scenario that makes them boring and OP. Eric and Rugrat are funny, skilled, and rational. This makes the story an enjoyable adventure into an unknown realm, instead of the usual trope of an naive kid that struggles with the idea of killing and morality and tends to walk into traps over an over. This series is off to an awesome start and I’ll be binging this for a couple weeks. Awesome book!
