Locked in with the town bad boy....

Most women would be scared, but Gabriella’s only worried about resisting Cruz Walsh, who’s even hotter than he was back in high school. Cruz was wrongly accused of the high-profile crime for which he was imprisoned; Gabriella’s desperate for the scoop that will get her career off the ground and get her out of Sweet Hill, where everyone still remembers her as “Flabby Gabby”. Being stuck in a supply closet with Cruz is the perfect opportunity to land an interview. What Bri doesn’t count on is Cruz taking “up-close and personal” to a whole new level.

If there’s a silver lining to the hell Cruz went through, it’s that losing his freedom put everything in perspective. Maybe starting over someplace new would be easier, but after years locked up, Cruz values his family - and his true friends - more than ever. So he’s back home, facing the gossip, dodging reporters...and face-to-face with Gabriella Rossi.

They’ve both changed: Bri wants a story, and Cruz just wants her. Another thing he’s learned? Don’t let a good thing slip away.

Awesome

Let me first say I wish I wouldn’t rely so much on what reviews say to help me judge a book. This story had 10 reviews in numbers only and the highest rating was 3.9. Really!!! This book was as good as the whole series. My favorite was “beautiful lawman” however this is a close second. A sweet yet very steamy story. It’s definitely a highly recommended book if following the series. You won’t be disappointed. However you may be prepared for panty melting heat. Christian Fox is awesome as always. Good story hope there’s more. I’m excited to be the first to give a written review of this book to give it a higher rating than 3.9. I say 5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️s.

Beautiful Sinner

I enjoyed this audio. Christian Fox is the reason I purchased it. (I also thought it was a rockstar romance lol) I rolled my eyes a few times, but whatever! I plan to play it again.

Dragged on!

This story was good at first then just dragged and was so frustrating. To many annoying side characters and I really didn’t like the 3/4 miscommunication breakup scene and wasted time in the last 20 min. Honestly the book was so close to the end I’m not sure why even add the last min breakup/miscommunication scene. Then the ending was rushed because of it.

By the 4th Book the Stories Are All the Same

I went on a bit of a binge on the Devil's Rock Series as I enjoyed book 1 and I utterly adore Christian Fox's narration. But as I progressed through the series, I found that Sophie Jordan had a formula and God damnit, she is sticking to it.

Formula:
Hardened, sexy ex-con who hasn't had sex since he's been released meets sweet, innocent lady who isn't a virgin but isn't far from it, having only had one previous lover who wasn't all that good anyway. He resists her because he's "no good for her" or she's "too good for him" and then they grapple with some stolen intimate moments before he snaps and breaks up with her, breaking her heart. Then when they both believe it is truly over something brings them together and they live happily ever after.

I mean, really. This is literally the plot to all 4 books and by the time I got to Beautiful Sinner I thought "Haven't I heard this before already?"

I do love Christian Fox's narration. He has such a sexy voice and he really takes on the male character's persona. I have purchased several books purely because he is narrating them.

To be fair, Sophie Jordan is a good writer. He male characters are understandably damaged and she writes them well. But ALL the characters in the series are exact replicas of each other. Cruz could be Knox or Reid or North. They are the same man, basically. And I got sick of the over-innocent, sweet, goodie female leads. It's a boring trope. I don't believe that two people who are so fundamentally different can have anything in common aside from mutual attraction.
