About this listen

Anna's life changes forever on one horrific night when she is assaulted and left for dead.

Anna Marquette has everything to live for. Her daughters are in college and, with the support of Paul, her loving husband, she is pursuing her dream of a career in counseling. Then one night, while on a trip to Orlando, the unimaginable happens. She takes a shortcut to an evening out with Paul and is brutally assaulted.

When Anna suspects the attack has left her pregnant, her faith is put to the test. As Anna and her family confront the heart-wrenching decisions that lie ahead, Anna gradually comes to realize that God has a plan for her and that she must trust Him. But will her family accept the choice she makes? Will her husband's love for her prevail? And will her marriage survive this ultimate test?

Difficult situation compassionately told

Any additional comments?

The author handled a difficult story line with compassion and delicacy. Not a light read and yet full of hope.

So right in so many ways! It grows your heart!

I had no idea where I would be on an issue so rending. The author did a superb job of telling a story so carefully and tenderly and with sensitivity to all aspects involved. Thankyou!

Excellent book

I so enjoyed this book! As a Christian with strong anti-abortion views, I tried to picture myself in a similar situation, especially since I am also named Anna. I could not have had an abortion, like Anna in the book, but might have lost many of my friends and even some relatives over that decision. I like to think my husband would have stayed by my side but, since I am now 75 years old and a widow, I'll never know. My child-bearing years are long ago and times were different back then.

I Love This Author! Gift from God.

Beautiful story, well written and narrated. Thank you for these stories with contemporary topics. I advised my daughter to abort her fifth pregnancy, by an abusive boyfriend who obviously didn’t love her but had the goal of getting a child. My daughter’s health was at risk. I knew it was wrong and thank God I raised my daughter to believe that life is a gift from God.
She gave up rights to the child because the young man’s mother had unlimited funds to hire lawyers and threatened my daughter’s custody of her other children. So she agreed to let them have the child. I was tasked with turning the baby over to him on my birthday. One of the hardest things I ever had to do.
Mrs. Raney touched on all the thoughts that went through my mind at the time. Although we haven’t had contact with those people in years, we know that one day a young adult could end up on my daughter’s doorstep, curious about their biology. Open adoption is such a blessing.
Thank you for such a soul touching story.

Over-simplified account of a complicated issue.

A Christian story grappling with the moral decisions of right and wrong when a pregnancy results after rape. Don't agree.

Cotton candy

While the subject matter was difficult and relevant to what, sadly, is faced too many times in our society...the sing-song, overly sweet depiction of how this family handled was just too much! Additionally, I found myself scrabbling to find what year the book was released, clearly the setting was current as the reference to cell phone and internet confirmed but 2016!! We, thankfully, have come a long way from the world view that a family is all one race, all biological and being adopted is a well guarded secret; the time wasted on such things caught me feeling irritated....yes, in an earlier time in history, but 2016. There was some redemption in the conclusion and ended far more believable. I have been a big fan of other DR stories but this one left my teeth hurting & my head irritated with the too simple, too sweet, too unbelievable characters (visual of Georgette from the MTM show). I am sorry to be so harsh with my review but greatly disappointed this time. **On a side note, the subject matter was a great point of conversation with my husband & young adult daughter.

Extremely predictable

If you enjoy an exciting book you will be disappointed. It starts off with a bang and goes downhill. Only one significant event happens in the book. Not a bad read just not exciting.
