About this listen

They were on their way to being a real family...until she came into their lives.

Expecting their first baby, Judd and Evette McGlin are thrilled at the prospect of becoming parents. But their marriage faces the ultimate test when Judd learns he already has a child: a six-year-old biracial daughter, born amid secrets and lies. Now, Evette must decide if she can accept the child - and forgive Judd. She thought she was open-minded - until hidden prejudices threaten the future of an innocent little girl, Evette's marriage, and the very notion of the woman she's believed herself to be.

Above all things, this child needs acceptance and love. She needs Evette to discover what being a mother truly means. She needs Judd to face his past. And she needs them both to discover what it truly means to be a family.

Knowing our Hearts

A great read especially for times such as these. What do we keep hidden in our hearts and how God can use our life circumstances to help us see and set us free! Excellent story and excellent narration!!!

True to life

An excellent story of family life, Christian faith, and drama. A good combination of family dynamics, growing in faith, and overcoming challenges. I recommend this to readers who enjoy ordinary people trying to live their faith, sometime failing in specific
situations, but always growing and improving.

Beautiful…

God does indeed work ALL things to the good of those who love him and are called according to His purposes. Gut wrenching at times, and heart lifting at others. A beautiful story of transformation.

This book started out hard for me. There are turns that made me stick to listening. I’m so glad I did. Such a beauty story.

Dont listen to the bad reviews!!

I am a biracial female and find these negative reviews ridiculous. This story is about one family, not about every white southern family. Just because this topic may be uncomfortable, doesn’t make it bad. This story is honestly a very realistic and relatable. Having parents being uncomfortable with a child dating out of their own race, a white mother that doesn’t know how to take care of curly hair, the stares from outsiders, a black hair stylist pulling out the “pink stuff” ... this isn’t a horrible book, this is real life! More people need to read this and understand that to this day this still goes on. It’s okay if it make you feel uncomfortable, hard topics aren’t easy!

God was all up in this story

I enjoyed the lesson. it was interesting to hear the changes that we're accruing step by step. And it was very different from the other books, because it had a lot of mention about God.
