Fanfare music in "bedtime" stories?

The narrator himself is okay, but the recording sounds like it was taking from an old vinyl record, complete with housing and cracking sounds. I started playing the first story for the kids at bed time only to have them startled alert within the first few minutes with fanfare music. From then on we played the stories in the mornings on the way to school. Whatever possessed the producers to do that is beyond me. They should have called this "Waking Up Stories".
