Editorial reviews

Joanna Daniel performs this collection of 25 of the greatest fairy tales from the Brothers Grimm. Translator Margaret Hunt is credited with bringing German folklore to the attention of English-speaking children, but in this audiobook, Joanna Daniel gets all the credit for a charming performance that adults will appreciate as much as their offspring. Tom Thumb, Snow White, Cinderella, and the Frog Prince all make appearances here, as well as some lesser-known characters like Dummling, Catherine and Frederick, and Mother Holle. All of them are both rendered delicately and enlivened by Daniel's winsome English accent.

These ate good translations of the stories collected by the Brothers Grimm. What more do I need to say?

I’m especially impressed by the reader. She is expressive without overacting, a rarity for audible books not read by the author.

More funny than "grimm" .

These were comical. I was a little disappointed, I thought they would resemble the fairytales of my youth put only a few of them did.

The narrator did a nice job. She is a good story teller. I just don't like the stories much.

I had no idea

These stories are dark, moody, and full of trying times. Very enjoyable! Though definitely not for children!
