About this listen

Annabeth is a hopeless romantic who believes in soul mates. In fact, she's been writing to hers each year on her birthday since she was 16.

Now, at 34, she's still holding out hope of finding Mr. Right, even though he'd be fighting an uphill battle to gain her trust thanks to a traumatic experience years before that's left her unable to commit.

When Annabeth meets a handsome literature professor named Alex on her 34th birthday, she thinks her quest may finally be at an end. Things don't quite go as planned, so Annabeth resolves to do everything she can over the next year to find the unknown recipient of her letters. But blind dates, meetup events and online singles sites have nothing on what fate has in store for her when a co-worker unexpectedly quits and Annabeth finds herself working in close quarters with both Alex and her long-ago ex, Nick. Fighting her attraction to one and loathing for the other, Annabeth is forced to face all of her old insecurities while keeping an eye on a scheming frienemy who may derail her hopes and dreams.

Nice change from my normal

A lot tamer then my normal reads/listens but a truly wonderful story! Sorta dragged in the beginning, but it did pick up. “I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher.”

Searching for this...

I have to admit, I didn't seek out this book and it didn't come to me as a book buddy recommendation. Therefore, when I got to this book on my reading list, I had no expectations. None. I wasn't eagerly awaiting it's turn, I didn't have a book buddy cheering me on as I began. But, I was pleasantly surprised and engaged from the first paragraph.

The narration was PERFECT and it flowed so seamlessly that I never felt as if I were reading/hearing a story. If you listen to audio often, you know exactly what I mean - it was as if this was a side story happening parallel to the normal day to day events of my life. This only happens with the best narration performances.

The description sounded somewhat typical and while the storyline may have been a fairly common plot, it was written so well that I was never disappointed in the expected turns of events. I was disappointed in the outcome of Mia's relationships and true character but only because I was so optimistic about these characters that I didn't want to believe it either. I felt the conflict and disbelief as if this was my circle or friends as well. Very well written. I will definitely add both author and narrator to my 'must read' lists!

I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher. This did not influence my review in any way.

Great Book!

Any additional comments?

This is a great book; this is a great romantic comedy written by Nicole Evelina and narrated by Ashley Clements. Fighting her attraction to one and loathing for the other, Annabeth is forced to face all of her old insecurities while keeping an eye on a scheming frienemy who may derail her hopes and dreams. The narrator Ashley Clements did a wonderful job with this book. She did a great job with the different voices of each character in this book. It was very easy to listen to and I didn’t want to stop listening until the end. If you are looking for a great book with well-developed characters then you need to listen to this book. I am looking forward to listening to the next book by this author and narrator. I Don't Get It

What I don't get in stories like this is that when a guy hurts you so terribly and your best friend obviously is lying to you. You trust these two rather than the man who has shown you how important you are to him. Your so-called best friend tells you that she asked your boyfriend for sex and he turned her down but even when your sister shows you that the picture is not true you don't believe her. This is so unrealistic of someone who is supposed to be so smart. I know a story is supposed to make you suspend reality but really. To paint the woman as so smart then make her make stupid decisions like these is a turn off for me. If she is a strong, smart woman let her continue to be not let her be a ninny. I did not like Nick at all. To say he is her best friend then treat her like that makes me sad and mad. The narrator was very good but the story just did not resonate with me. A strong woman should be strong in her love life as well as everywhere else. She can be strong, smart and still be lovable. I got this book via audiobook boom.

A Fun Romance

I loved the story and characters. I will have to look for more books by this author.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Been Searching for You?

The fact that you knew they had sex, but the author did not describe it in detail to you. This helped keep the story enjoyable.

Which character – as performed by Ashley Clements – was your favorite?

I loved Annabeth. You just wanted to root for her.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Very much so, I can't wait to listen to it again to see what I may have missed the first time.

Sweet Romance with Smart Characters.

Annabeth is a smart 34 year old that has a successful job and has been in search of her soulmate. She meets someone she really likes but he turns her down.

Alex is an intelligent professor that just got off of a long time relationship and needs time before jumping into another relationship.

Annabeth goes from having nobody to having three men in her life. But she better keep her eyes on some of her "friends" because someone will betray her.

The narration was excellent and brought the story to life.

I'm looking forward to reading more books by this author. I really enjoyed the story and characters. It was a very enjoyable listen with a HEA conclusion.

Cute & Clean Modern Day Romance

Any additional comments?

I was provided this audiobook at no charge by the author, publisher and/or narrator in exchange for an unbiased review via Audiobook Boom. This was an enjoyable listen. The writing and narration were very professional and done well. This story made me laugh, cry, have hope and angst. I highly recommend this audiobook to those who love a good romance but don't want the explicit sex scenes. The sexual situations in this book were very mild and clean, and would not be considered erotica.

This is my third book by this author. She knows how to weave a wonderful story and the narrator brought it to life. Since I have now read all 3 audiobooks she currently has I hope more are to come.
