About this listen
What does it mean to be a Christian?
The gospel of Jesus Christ is the best news in history, but we often live as though it has minimal impact on our lives.
Being a Christian isn't just about Sunday mornings, small groups, and studying the Bible. The good news is that Jesus redeems everything.
In the Bible, we hear story after story of people meeting God and walking away completely changed. The same is true for Christians today. Being a Christian, by Dr. Jason Allen, shows how Jesus redeems all of life.
Useful for new and mature believers, small group and personal study, Being a Christian walks listeners through the gospel's impact on all facets of life, from your relationships to your resources, from your work to your rest, from your past to your future.

Story
When Jesus began his ministry, he announced that the kingdom of God was at hand. But many modern-day Christians don’t really understand what the kingdom of God is or how it relates to the message of the gospel. Defining kingdom as the King’s power over the King’s people in the King’s place, Patrick Schreiner investigates the key events, prophecies, and passages of Scripture that highlight the important theme of kingdom across the storyline of the Bible―helping readers see how the mission of Jesus and the coming of the kingdom fit together.

Story
Talk is cheap, and so is a profession of faith apart from repentance. But we live in a day when people put more stock in a once-said prayer than a life reflective of a renewed heart. Taking Matthew 7:13-27 as his text, Paul Washer reminds us of Jesus' insistence that his way is narrow and that its travelers will bear good fruit and rest on the solid foundation of God's word.

In a world of increasing ideological diversity, kids are being challenged to think through their own beliefs at an early age. Questions like How can you believe the Bible is true?; Why can’t we just agree that love is love?; and Isn’t Christianity against diversity? can seem like roadblocks for kids who are following Jesus, as well as for those who might otherwise consider faith in Christ.

Story
In Typology—Understanding the Bible's Promise-Shaped Patterns, author James M. Hamilton Jr. shows that the similarities we find in the Bible are based on genuine historical correspondence and demonstrates how we recognize them in the repetition of words and phrases, the parallels between patterns of events, and key thematic equivalences. When understood in light of God's promises, these historical correspondences spotlight further repetitions that snowball on one another to build escalating significance.

Story
Just like Superman, followers of Christ have the supernatural ability to conquer the challenges we face. But the problem for both Superman and us is there's a kryptonite that steals our strength. Of course, both Superman and kryptonite are fictional. But spiritual kryptonite is not. This book offers answers to why so many people - and the churches they attend - are unable to experience the divine strength that was evident among the first-century Christians. In Killing Kryptonite, John Bevere reveals what this kryptonite is and how to break free from its bondage.

How important is holiness to you? How much thought, attention, and effort do you devote to the pursuit of holiness? Is it your priority and mission to be holy? Nancy Leigh DeMoss teaches that we must make it our constant, conscious ambition to be holy. Just as an athlete sets his sight on winning an Olympic gold medal, so we as believers must focus on the pursuit of holiness. And the reward that awaits us brings a depth of joy that far outweighs a fading gold medal; it is the humble pleasure of hearing the father say, "Well done, good and faithful servant."

We did this study as a church but could easily do independently. It is great for the new believer and for the mature Believer to focus on the basics and craft all parts of life in a Christian worldview. The book is easy to understand and flows easily. great book for any Christian of any level of faith
I listened to this while at work to help me get ahead on my school work but I enjoyed every aspect of this book. Dr. Allen clearly identifies and relates with the struggles every reader has as being a Christian and ties everything back to biblical premises!! 10/10 Dr. Allen!
