About this listen

Now an Amazon top 50 best seller!

I told a judge I was engaged to my best friend.
Now we’re faking it.
How hard can it be?

My life has room for exactly two women: my daughter Rusty and my best friend Charlotte - known to everyone as Charlie.

One is a feisty, tomboyish firecracker. The other is my seven-year-old. I can’t imagine life without either.

So when my ex springs a custody hearing on me, I find myself telling the judge that I’m engaged to Charlie.

The only problem? I’m not.

Time to fake an engagement.

Pretending we’re a couple will be no big deal.

We’ve been friends for years. We used to sneak cigarettes behind the bleachers. We turned cans of hairspray into flamethrowers. We got drunk on stolen malt liquor.

She’s beautiful, vivacious, spontaneous, and she loves my daughter to death. It’s the perfect answer: we fake it for a few months, then go back to our lives.

Until we touch, and sparks fly. Until I can’t take my eyes off her. Until I can’t stop thinking about what she’s got on under her coveralls.

It takes one kiss.
One touch.
One shared secret and suddenly, I’m not pretending anymore. I want her, I need her in ways I didn’t know I could.

But there’s a lifetime of friendship between us, and falling in love with Charlie could mean risking everything.

Best Fake Fiancé is a stand-alone romantic comedy that will make you laugh and cry.

Single dad!

Daniel Loveless is in a predicament. Custody of her 7 year old daughter is at stake, and in a rush of panic, he lets he judge know he is engaged...to Charlie, his best friend. Now he needs Charlie to play the part so he can keep his daughter. Charlie is shocked at the idea, but agrees to help him out. After all, they have been best friends since grade school. But can they play the part? Or will their true feelings surface? Love is definitely in the air for this story, but I love the how Roxie Noir takes us on a journey to get there. First off, Rusty is a fantastic character. She may be 7, but she is independent, curious and smart. Each scene with her is engaging as a mom, I can just see exactly her missions. Charlie is also phenomenal. Hard working, a little ditzy but full of love, she is incredibly genuine. And Daniel is stressed. He knows what he wants, but is unsure he can have it all. Then we have the characters we love to hate like Crystal, and the story has a little bit of everything. A little angst, a lot of laughs, some family banter and a lot of true love. It made my heart happy and my smile big.

Tor Thom and Monica King tell us this story with a wonderful dual narration. Daniel is a tough one, with a lot of sides. He is dad first, brother and boyfriend, and Thom finds each nuance to bring the layers of Daniel to life. He is a realistic character and Thom nails each scene perfectly. King is Charlie. A little airy, but a huge heart, she finds all of her facets and uses inflections to let us know her true feelings. I enjoyed this team and the story.

Neurodivergent love

This is what an undiagnosed high-functioning adult ADHD looks like.

Charlotte is fidgety, has an unusual career for a woman, has time blindness, is easily distracted, and performs really well under pressure. She is a risk-taker with a kind heart.

I was hoping that the author would continue Charlotte’s story until she gets the help that she needs. But I guess that's not the focus.

The story has a lot of heart for family bonds and wonderful supporting characters.

The narrators did a wonderful job of portraying the ups and downs of the story.

Two out of five of Loveless brothers. Excited to read/hear more of them.

Loved it - Great story and great narration

Roxie Noir is a relatively new author to me, although I am familiar with narrator Tor Thom and new to me narrator Monica King.
A friends to lovers story full of heart, love, friendship, emotion and Rusty, the cutest little seven year old girl I have read about in a long time. The narrators did a great job in bringing this story to life and they had me invested from the start.
Charlotte (Charlie) and Daniel have been friends for years and when Daniel needs her help she comes through for him in a big way. Daniel is pushed into telling a judge that he has a fiancee when his ex takes him to court over custody of his daughter Rusty, he has no choice but to find one in a hurry and that is where Charlie comes in. What will happen when the feelings between fake fiances become real?
Rusty just about melted my heart, such a precious child surrounded and loved by so many. The friendship between Charlie and Daniel was heartwarming, I loved how they balanced one another with Charlie ensuring that Daniel didn’t take life too seriously all the time. These two together are a great couple and this book was full of emotions.
I love single parent stories and over the last 12 months has become one of my favourite tropes to read. Best Fake Fiance had me captivated from start to finish, it had me smiling throughout and hoping Charlie, Daniel and Rusty could get the happily ever after that they all deserved.
One click this little gem, I don’t think you will be disappointed.

Waste of time and a credit POSSIBLE SPOILERS

I really really hate books where the h is portrayed as a ditzy scatterbrained female who is always late for everything and always screwing up. This was especially bad because her irresponsibility endangered a child:(((. The H’s child! I HATE THAT!! If I had known the h was an idiot I would never have used a credit on this book! I ended up skipping chapters just to get it over with:(( I will NOT be buying any more of this authors books!
