About this listen

The movie star and the small-town girl he left behind. They have a lot of catching up to do in an emotional and rousing romantic comedy about fame, second chances, and making dreams come true.

Parker Pruitt’s dream is to restore her small town’s long-shuttered theater—one to be named in honor of Noel Carter, the boy who followed his dream from Emerald Grove, Washington, to Hollywood…and broke Parker’s heart. Now he’s back to attend the kickoff ceremony, and for Parker, that means smiling through a swell of mixed emotions at seeing her former best friend for the first time in a decade.

Noel may be one of the hottest actors in the world, but he’s still touched by the tribute. And a little nervous about seeing Parker again. But when his weekend jaunt extends into a six-week stay, long-repressed memories and feelings come rushing back. As the simmering attraction between them builds, Noel is determined not to ruin this second chance even if his return to LA is hanging over them.

They’re making the best of the time they have left, but is there any chance of a Hollywood ending?

This was an ok story. It was slow and I’m not a huge fan of the male narrator. I thought the female character was immature and the male character did nothing wrong other than not speak up. It was cute but I wasn’t chomping at the bit like many others.

Ok but not my favorite

This was available on Kindle Unlimited with audio so I decided I'd listen to it. The story was ok but nothing that will encourage me to read/listen again. The narrators were not great though. Lee Samuels didn't give a lot of emotions throughout this book. It was as if he was just reading the words, not processing what was transpiring in the story. Emma Wilder is similar to the virtual voice so I was not a fan.

Sadly, narrators weren't great

Audio review

Easy to follow the dialogue and kept the pace of the story alive and interesting.

Main characters
Parker Pruitt
Noel Carter

Noel hasn’t been back to his small home town since in 10 years. Now, a famous movie star, he has returned. His welcome is less than warm. It’s especially chilly from his ex best friend. Parker.

They both have regrets about the past and uncertainty about the future. They forge ahead with some help and some hindrance from their small town neighbors,

Great dialogue and wonderful characters with chemistry. Granny and Astrid added more fun to the story. HEA with a nice long epilogue.

Best Friends For Never is a small town, friends to lovers romcom. Parker and Noel were childhood and friends and crushes until he left for his acting career and she stayed behind. I loved seeing these two find the spark reunite between these two. I also loved all the characters of the small town. This story was fun, sweet and heartwarming and a perfect light hearted read!

Emma Wilder and Lee Samuels narrate this book in dual narration. These two dod an amazing job at bringing the emotion, longing and love Parker and Noel have for each other. Emma and Lee’s both gave stellar performances.

Sweet small town friends to lovers

Best Friends For Never is an entertaining, well written, small town, second chance at love story that ticked the boxes for me.

The narration by Lee Samuels and Emma Wilder was spot on for these characters in my opinion. Not only are their voices easy to listen to but their performances brought all the passion, humour and drama that Ms. Hunter created.

This is Parker Pruitt and Noel Carter’s story set in Emerald Grove, Washington.

However for Parker, movie star Noel is the man who broke her heart. Now she has to pretend all is well which is difficult. When Noel’s brief stay is extended, they reconnect and it is obvious that the feelings they had are still as strong.

Will they come to terms with the past and in doing so create a future together?

I absolutely adored this second-chance romance! Tegan Hunter crafted such a delightful and engaging story, blending heartwarming moments with humor effortlessly. This book was pure fun from start to finish! The chemistry between Parker and Noel was undeniable, and watching their love story unfold was an absolute joy. Their journey was filled with witty banter, heartfelt emotions, and just the right amount of charm. I couldn’t get enough of them! 💜💙

4.5 stars. This was such a sweet small-town, second chance romance. Childhood best friends who fell in love but never took that shot as their dreams led them in different directions. I loved this story because it felt so real. Both characters needed to find themselves and their own paths before they could come together as adults. The love never faded. The perfect example of the right person but the wrong time.

I also loved all of the side characters in this book. Great people that show up for each other over and over. This book also has all of the cooky charm you’d expect to find in a small-town romance. Such a fun, sweet read with a good splash of spice.

If you love audiobooks, give the audio a whirl. The narrators do a great job with the dual POV story and the voices for different characters.
