About this listen

Scandal meets sizzle when a runaway bride’s quick getaway lands her in the arms of her almost-groom’s rival, but he has more than business on his mind when he makes her an offer she can’t refuse.

Your wedding day is meant to be the happiest day of your life. Not the day you discover your groom is a cheating jerk.

When I run, strong arms catch me. It’s just a shame they belong to my ex’s nemesis, Oliver Deubel. Rich and powerful, the man is sin in a suit. He’s also arrogant, demanding, and infuriatingly irresistible.

When my wedding disaster goes viral and deportation hangs over my head, Oliver offers me a deal: help him ruin my ex in exchange for my visa. The fine print? Move in with him.

I want to laugh in his face, until I discover how ruthless he is. So I decide to repay him by making his life a living hell, and he retaliates by…being nice to me. Which is where things become really weird as lines blur and pretend suddenly begins to feel real.

But Oliver is no Romeo, and only a fool would fall for him.

Worryingly, I think that fool might be me.

British snob and jilted American Bride

First, I had a hard time getting used to Will Matt’s voice as Oliver but then, his voice grew on me and his diversed accents on the secondary characters. Summer Morton was perfect in this role and cleverly switched from her to Oliver in this dual narration. I love the story of how this jilted bride found out that her groom, Mitchell had been cheating on her. She escaped in Oliver’s sedan and there goes a relationship that is both fun to watch, tons of bantering and lots of hot hot sexy scenes…A great listen as well with Donna Alam’s books.

Great story!

This was my second book from this author, and it was fantastic! Different from anything I have read in a long time. Runaway bride who lands (literally) in the lap of the cheating jilted groom’s nemesis. Evie is trying to pull her life together and Oliver see an opportunity to get revenge and use Evie as the means to achieve it. Gotta admit, there were so many times I thought Evie should have run far away, but the story all came together and it was a HEA.

Narrators were perfect. Honestly, I preordered this one when I saw Will Watt was narrating. Both narrators were fantastic. Can’t wait for the next book in the series.

Funny and sweet

Enjoyed this story. I thought it wouldn’t catch my attention but I loved the female character for her strength. The male narrator did a great job at bringing Oliver to life and so did the female narrator. I thought it could be a hare shorter but the story was sweet and I loved all the supporting friends as well.

MMC laughs BWAHAHAHA

Why does the MMC sound like a cheap failed villain? The MMC is so poorly narrated, its as if the narrator is mocking the story. It also makes the MMC sound like a joke and not the book bf readers gravitate to.

The story is written well and paced appropriately to keep your interest. Female narrator is also wonderful. She voiced the character with detail to her personality and ongoing dilemmas. She is the only reason for any stars in performance.

Really the only downside to this book is the male narration. Its hard to get pass the mockery.

Love Alam!!!!

Ms Alam is IMO one of the most clever writers of this genre! Her mastery of witticism and sensuality on the page is unbeatable. Some of the most creative analogies I’ve ever come across. Narration was excellent. Mr Watt’s performance is utterly superb. The man has fabulous resonance, his use of modulation is perfection. Huge fan of both Alam and Watt.

good story.

Oliver & Evie: trigger: assault. this was interesting. I dont want to give away too much with this story but I it equal parts HOT and almost humorous. Not quite laugh out loud but some funny moments. Evie is a runaway bride who happens to run into Oliver outside the church. The main characters have a scorching connection and they set the sheets in fire in this book. There were some moments that had me scratching my head because they either didn't make sense or somehow I missed the explanation. Overall, it's a really good story. oh and the male narrator was looking me. he spoke so slowly and with the English accent he suggested like Scar from the lion king, so instead of picturing a sexy man, I kept seeing Jeremy irons clinic Scar and I was waiting for him to say "I'm surrounded by idiots.

Meh

This was one of the few books that I couldn't bring myself to finish. I made it about half-way through the 15 hour book and finally decided that I just didn't care enough about the story or the characters to bother finishing it.

The beginning of the story was fun, with a runaway bride (the FMC) making her escape with a handsome stranger (the MMC) who just happened to be her groom's biggest enemy, but it just slogged on from there. The two get into a fake relation situation enabled by some underhanded actions by the MMC. It's clear that we are supposed to view the MMC as manipulative and petty and the FMC as a wonderful person who was forced into a bad situation, but actually there was almost nothing likeable her. A brief bit about her volunteering at an animal rescue was pretty much the only example of her being the "good and kind" person in this relationship. I imagine that both characters are redeemed by the end of the book, but I'll never know for sure, nor do I care.

Narration by Will Watt and Summer Morton was very good. In fact, Will Watt's narration was the best part of the whole book .

narration

The female voice actor used an Australian accent for all of the British characters and it drove me nuts. But overall it was pretty good!
