About this listen

Athena Trappes thinks she's in love...until she discovers the scoundrel only wanted her as his bit on the side. Enraged, she does what any spirited Englishwoman would do: set fire to his belongings, incur his dangerous wrath, and flee - immediately. With nowhere else to turn, she seeks freedom in the wilds of Scotland.

Highland Laird Symon Grant lost his wife years ago, and it's his duty to find another. Athena is not exactly what the clan has in mind for him, but Symon's heart burns with unexpected passion for the woman who would risk everything to be free.

I did not want to stop listening when I needed to sleep. I love the narrator's voice as he changes the characters.

At first this book was a little hard to get into. I had to keep starting it over, but as I settled down and listened it turned out to be pretty good!!

The story is interesting and holds your interest but the narrator is stilted and uninteresting.

Great story, subpar narrator

How many times has one character need to be rescued over and over again?!? Is there someone really this dumb? HOW after being rescued from being kidnapped & forced into prostitution & not even shower but just go & have sex with her man?!? AND THEN THEY DONT WANT JUSTICE AGAINST THE MEN THAT KIDNAPPED YOU?!? Very annoying storyline!

Female is SOOO DUMB & keeps needing to be rescued!

This was a fun story overall. An English woman is forced to go north to Scotland because of her mistaken choice of husband. She thinks she is contracted to marry an honorable nobleman who instead wants to keep her as his mistress. On her clandestine travels to Scotland she is spied by a Scottish Laird who immediately becomes beguiled by her. The rest of the story is how they delightfully come together. There are ups and downs but, as usual, love conquers all.

A Good Highland Laird and his chosen wife!

This story started off relatively interesting, but the last quarter of the book I found myself losing interest. It was a struggle to finish. However, as always Antony Ferguson is an incredible narrator! I think this series starts off strong but I feel like by this book it lost it’s steam.
