About this listen

Passion flares between enemies

Two hotheaded Highlanders, the offspring of feuding lairds, are tricked by the King's Regent into a desperate choice: marry or die. Bhaic MacPherson is more disposed to lead his clan into battle than stay married to the daughter of his enemy. But perhaps the intensity of his feelings has more to do with desire than hostility.

And the Highlands ignite

Ailis Robertson wanted a husband, not a savage - but when her family was faced with a deadly ultimatum, she had no choice. The union of a MacPherson and a Robertson could end three generations of hostilities between the two families, but can bitter rivals truly become lovers?

the narration made this story way worse then what it would've been if someone else had done it. I've noticed that this dude does a lot of books and I honestly do not understand it. He is boring and can make an amazing story barely tolerable. I like this author an decided I wanted to try this one even though I knew the narration wouldn't be good hoping it wouldn't have mattered. it totally did! now I highly doubt I'll listen to the next book because of who's reading it.

could have been better

Really enjoyed the storyline - and excellent narration. Antony Ferguson is such a classic narrator and perfect for this genre in my opinion!

I love highland stories, but the heroin goes through a little bit too much. I will try the next book.

OK

I thought it wasn’t worthy of my time when I read some of the reviews but, surprisingly, I really enjoyed it from beginning to the end. I will definitely starting on the second book right away. Thanks for the wonderful story line.

Worth every minute of it *** five stars ***

its a good story, but the narration sometimes takes away from it. at times didn't realize he was representing a different character and the inflection was not what I would have imagined it to be in that situation

good story

This book is just okay. The story is average at best. The hero is inconsistent in development. First he is independent and never marrying and the next paragraph he’s in love with the heroine and she hasn’t changed in any way to make him pay attention. The narrator was good with the various men’s voices but all the women sounded like they were fighting nausea.

Mediocre

I have to say I was disappointed with the main lead heroine. The title says and characters call spit fire and I have read many many highlander stories she is the LEAST spitfire.
She gets mad and angry easily but doesn’t act to defend herself when other watch her naked and are not ashamed to do so or when she gets slapped! Worse than that the main hero does nothing! Wth 😡
I actually enjoyed Helen’s temper and ability to stand for no shi* I am glad I listened to it because now I know there is a book about Helen and Marcus. She also kept saying I’ll deal with it my own way but never really does on action, all talk no real change

As a female I felt like I wouldn’t have stood by while others shamed me and treated me less than human!

Good points of this book was how they both sacrificed themselves to save their families. Also how the heroine tried to take the high road that kinda lead her to being a push over.

“SPIT FIRE NOT SO MUCH”
