About this listen

Book Five in the bestselling, award-winning BEYOND series.

She's fought like hell to leave the past behind.

Trix changed her name and her life when she got clean four years ago. Now, she has a new family and a job she loves - tending bar and dancing at the Broken Circle. As an O'Kane, she's happy, untouchable. Until a nightmare from her old life tears her away from her home and drags her back to Hell - also known as Sector Five.

He's still living - and dying - in it.

Losing Trix was the kick in the head Finn needed to get sober, but working as an enforcer for a man he hates is slowly crushing his soul. The only thing that keeps him going is his determination to destroy Sector Five from the inside. Then Trix comes back into his life - alive, in danger - and nothing else matters.

Getting her home could be a suicide mission. The only thing deadlier is the old spark that flares to life between them. Soon, Finn and Trix are battling the one addiction neither of them ever managed to kick - each other. And it could cost them everything.

TRUST

Would you consider the audio edition of Beyond Addiction to be better than the print version?

No, but a great compliment when reading and having to switch to audio.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

It was interesting how easily accepted Finn was after all of his mistakes. Trix said he was good so that was law.

Have you listened to any of Lucy Malone’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes, the books in the Beyond series - they are all great/good so far.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No, it was a good book, but I was able to put it down - However, I did not cheat on this book, I did not start another one until this one was done.

Any additional comments?

Darn it! I can't say I was really looking forward to Trix and Fin's story, but I was looking forward to another book in this series (I didn't think it would matter who the story revolved around). I am a little disappointed that this book did not do for me what every other book in the series has done. It was not bad, it was not a waste of my time but I just didn't connect with Trix. I liked Fin enough, but I don't think Trix had any depth to her

Great narrator

What did you love best about Beyond Addiction?

I love that this is a second chance romance and allows the reader to learn more about the other Sectors and the farms.

What did you like best about this story?

I loved getting to know about Trix's background and how she ended up in Sector 4.

What does Lucy Malone bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I really enjoyed how Lucy Malone moderates her voice so you can tell when she is narrating for the different characters.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

There were a few moments that moved me.

Any additional comments?

I love this series and would recommend starting at the beginning with Beyond Shame. The world building and character development span the series while each book focuses on a specific couple/set of main characters.

narrator Lucy Malone

Lucy Mone is an excellent narrator for these audiobooks. She actually puts emotion into the plot, unlike many others. I look at the narrator first, and hope it will be Lucy Malone.

New Audio-Book Convert

Lets talk the over all story-line: I love the Beyond Series, while Bren and Six still remain to be my favorite, Trix and Finn's story was a great addition to the series. The book contains lots of drama, angst, heroics, and the debauchery those familiar with Sector Four have come to love and expect. There were a few things listening to the audio that I didn't pick up on reading it on my kindle. First was there was a lot more cursing than I remembered, not a bad thing, just an observation. Second there were a few parts of the book I didn't recall reading that I picked up while listening. Thirdly (this is an observation on myself not the book) I blushed and giggled quite a bit when the sex scenes were being read, more so than when I read the paperback (I will have to come up with a button to wear when I listen to audio books in public for when people stare at me giggling like an escaped loon).

Now let's talk the actual narrator: I laughed. Like a lot! Sometimes so much I had to bump it back a few times once I got a hold of myself to hear what I missed. Now my laughing was not a result of something the author's wrote, intending to be funny, it was actually because the narrator tried to change her voice, in my opinion a little too much, to do a different character. (Usually to do a male voice and with a majority of the characters being male it happened quite a bit). Overall though I'd give her a four stars outta five, only because it did pull me outta the story sometimes when I had to go back to find out what I missed because she was trying to give the dudes a gruff tone that didn't come out as well as it could have, or just not changed the tone that much.

As I said I am a new audio-book convert but based off as much other things, namely crocheting, I was able to accomplish while still getting my reading fix of a greater story-line than anything I've discovered on the television. I will definitely be hitting up my local library to see what they have in my preferred genre available.

Great addition to the Beyond Series

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would absolutely recommend this audiobook to a friend, knowing they love a book with a lot of sex and dirty talk. It's also a great story about what you would do for love and family. As long as that family is 18+. :-)

What did you like best about this story?

I love the continued story of the O'Kanes and Sector Four. It's a great series to get involved in, although it involved a lot of sex and filth, there's still a great story in it all. I liked Finn and Trix's story. Finn thought she was dead and had pretty much given up on his own existence until he finds out she's alive. He'll do anything to keep her safe including heading out to possible death.

What about Lucy Malone’s performance did you like?

I'm new to audiobooks, but i really enjoyed Lucy Malone's performance. I wasn't sure what to expect with one person playing all the parts, but I found it easy to keep the character voices straight and Lucy was very clear and easy to understand through the entire book.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Although I had a good feeling about the end of the book, I still got a little sad when Finn was heading off to his possible death knowing he didn't want to leave Trix.

Any additional comments?

Although this book is mainly about Finn and Trix and can probably be understood on it's own, I still recommend the first books in the series. There is so much more to the story of Sector Four. It is helpful to know the characters and the stories that have come before.

Beyond Addiction

Love this series! When Trix is kidnapped and drugged, Finn saves her...again, and in the process kills a sector leader. This puts them on the run. Fleeing they finally make it to sector 4 where Finn may not be safe until he proves he can be trusted. These two are made for each other. They lost each other before and now are found again and when the leaders conspire and want Finn's head he almost loses everything. I will say it again, I love this series!

Boredom

The narrator has a lack of reality in her voice and the storyline was lacking the wow factor!

It isn't fresh any more

Any additional comments?

It’s been awhile since I visited this gritty world that the writing duo Kit Rocha created; this post-apocalyptic, erotic morsel, picks up where book 4 leaves off.  This series really shouldn’t be read as a stand along since there are so many intertwining characters, and an overall backstory progressing through the series. I will admit, since it’s been so long since I visited the sectors, I was a bit lost; yet Beyond Addiction is much like the others, with hot filthy sex, including a group sex scene with Dallas and Lex. It was hot, but it didn’t feel new. I think that’s why I slowed down on this series to begin with; it stopped feeling fresh to me. There were some sweet moments between Trix and Finn, but I never fully invested in them or the story.

This is the first time I listen to an audiobook version instead of reading the story.  Malone isn’t my favorite narrator. She does a fine job; I just don’t care for her voice. I think had I read the book, I may have been able to get into the story more....Sara
