About this listen

Renowned author Delphine Larue needs a haven. A crazed fan has gone over the deep end, and she’s not safe. Her security team has suggested a house by a lake. Secluded. Private. Far away. In a beautiful area of the Northwest close to the sleepy town of Misted Pines. It’s perfect. So perfect, Delphine has just moved in, and she’s thinking she’ll stay there forever.

Until she sees the girl in the mist.

After that, everything changes.

Delphine quickly learns that Misted Pines isn’t so sleepy. A little girl has gone missing, and the town is in the grips of terror and tragedy. The local sheriff isn’t up for the job. The citizens are up in arms. And as the case unfolds, the seedy underbelly of a quiet community is exposed, layer by layer.

But most importantly, girls are dying.

There seems to be only one man they trust to find out what’s happening.

The mysterious Cade Bohannan.

Disappointed ...

I love KA I really do, but I really struggled to finish this book. The story had so many time jumps and the couple/familial relationships happened soooo fast. At times, I had to stop and go back because I felt I missed a few "pages." The FMC annoyed me a bit. Her rambling thought processes left me wondering what just happened. She was proferring advice to a father on how to discipline his daughter and handle a situation at her school, a few minutes after she had met him. Did I miss something? Was she a psychologist/counselor or something? I don't know, maybe it's just me. She's was a bit judgmental a few times about people/things she knew nothing about. Also, no real build-up to the stalker issue. No real relationship development ... it was just there all of a sudden. I'll try a re-read, maybe that will help.

Color me impressed!

KA is my absolute favorite author. But I’ll admit I wondered if she might have bitten off more than she could chew. Should have know better. You get into this right from the beginning and she keeps you on the hook until the (and I’m not exaggerating) very end.
I confess at first I thought Hillary was a little nasal and monotone but very shortly I realized she was spot on. She does nothing to detract from the story and her portrayal of the characters is spot on. I’m a new fan.
Please, please, please continue this series.

Left me salivating for more of the series!

I cannot begin to express how much I enjoyed this book. I haven't fallen in love with a romantic suspense heroine this much since Kelley Armstrong's Casey Duncan. Delphine is, as my granddaddy would have said, "a pistol". She's layered and nuanced and smart, never TSTL, and I totally wish I could have some writing dates with her. And Bohannon...WOWSA. Smart, respectful, hot, an awesome dad. There is so much butter in this book, it is the most movie theater popcorn thing I've read in ages. I can't WAIT for the next in the series. Bravo Kristen Ashley!

Absolutely FANTASTIC

I wasn't sure what to expect going in but I adore KA so I should really not be surprised! This has officially pushed me out of my reading slump. I've been stuck on her book Quiet Man since freaking October until now! I love that Cade is kinda like Mo in the sense that they're not conventionally attractive but are big and gruff... that's incredibly sexy to me. Plus Delphine and Lottie are both pretty but not conventionally beautiful but still very confident which again is incredibly sexy. I loved the characters and the story in equal measure. KA did it AGAIN 🥰

Racier than need be

Plot was pretty good. This was the most verbose novel I've ever listened to. That's saying something!

KA strikes again!!

KA has a wonderful command of the written word and the ability to draw you into a story where you can and want to get lost in it! This new book, that was literally written in a week, is another KA masterpiece! Rock on!!🤘

THUMBS UP!

From the setting to the characters, this was a well rounded story.

I won’t repeat what you can read from the excerpt, but I can say that the story was interesting, it kept you wondering, it didn’t drag, and it was a joy to listen to.

Recommended audiobook.

May be KA’s First Mystery, Looking Forward To More

Once again, KA lured me in and kept me there. Twists and turns. Love and heartache. Strong women, strong men. Vindictive women and weak men. Interesting characters and plot all around.

KA awesome as usual

I couldn't put it down. Narration, story, characters, awesome. Different approach but loved it from beginning to end. Not for the light at heart
