About this listen
Laura is a successful fantasy writer who needs to get sober. She lives in a haunted hotel in San Francisco with her beautiful white German Shepherd, Cloud, who can see the ghosts. When Sean Wilson appears in her life, everything changes. Through the use of Artificial Intelligence, Sean and his crew revolutionize how ghostly apparitions are perceived. This leads to discovering who Laura's mysterious grandfather was and sparks an unlikely romance. Will Laura and Sean live happily ever after?
As Laura sobers up her life changes for the better. She finishes the book she has been struggling with, captures Sean's heart, which ultimately leads to a wedding in a Scottish castle, and has a faceoff with an Etheric Revenant. Once the family ghosts have been identified, the ratings for Sean's reality ghost show skyrocket and Cloud becomes famous, creating a new set of challenges.
Ghosts aside, listeners are in for a rollercoaster ride as they suspend their belief and get to know Cloud and his unique perspective as well as Laura's eccentric grandmother who once was a celebrated Madam, serving the elite gentlemen of San Francisco.
If you are one to "think outside the box" and want an exhilarating story with mind-expanding ideas presented in a skillfully written and entertaining fashion, then this book is for you.

Bridget and Will have the kind of relationship that people envy: They’re loving, compatible, and completely devoted to each other. The fact that they’re strictly friends seems to get lost on nearly everyone. For three decades, they’ve nurtured their baby, the Forsyth Trio - a chamber group they created as students with their Juilliard classmate Gavin Glantz. In the intervening years, Gavin has gone on to become one of the classical music world’s reigning stars, while Bridget and Will have learned to embrace the warm reviews and smaller venues that accompany modest success.

Anita Topaz, Queen of the Bodice Rippers, is deliberately a woman of mystery. But pressure is mounting for Anita to reveal herself to her clamoring public. It's scrutiny that writer Paris Ellison can't allow, especially since the glamorous "Anita" is a work of pure fiction. Lady Diana Beckinsale excels at disappearing into a good role. Especially if that role gets her close to certain objects she desires. When Diana proposes the perfect solution to Paris' predicament, Paris is less than enthusiastic. She can't let someone as unsettling and observant as Diana get too close.

Romance that is destiny laced, fantasy infused, and dressed in a little night magic. If he leaves, he can never come back. But is he dumb enough to get in his car and drive away anyhow? New York Times best-selling author, Victoria Danann, begins a sizzling new series about an enclave of modern day witches who are sexy, philanthropic and living in the Texas Hill Country. They're selfless to a fault when it comes to generosity, but when it comes to the men they choose for themselves, they don't settle for anything less than the best.

This was a lovely light story of an heiress hotel owner/semi-successful writer who falls for a cutting-edge-tech-ghost hunter. Naturally, her hotel, and her family’s history are interesting to him, and it all brings them together.
Oh. And the dog makes comments here and there. I’m not certain how I feel about that, but I didn’t utterly hate it. It was almost endearing.
I will say, however, this is one of those where the plot twist makes you want to throw the book. If you like that sort of thing, go for it. If you can’t handle it, read it anyway.
The only criticism of the narration is that she seemed a little too chipper at times for the circumstances. But I also acknowledge that was how the book was written. And I can’t imagine how to achieve the balance between lighthearted romance and very serious life issues.
Overall well written, interesting, decent flow.
