Determined to find meaning in her grief, Jamie pours her life into volunteer work at St. Paul's, the small memorial chapel across from where the Twin Towers once stood. In the stream of broken, grieving people who make their way through the church doors, Jamie connects with two men, a firefighter forever changed by the attacks, and a Los Angeles police officer.
Unsure and feeling somehow guilty, Jamie opens herself to the possibility of loving again. But a shocking revelation sends her reeling. How can this be the plan for her life?
Now only the persistence of a tenacious caring man, questions from Jamie's curious daughter, and words from Jake's treasured journal can move Jamie Byran beyond one Tuesday morning toward life.

The story was really good though. Compelling enough to get through the odd voices!
Great book, Not great narration

I liked that Karen weaved in scripture and showed how God can make the impossible possible. She showed the love of God and how he enjoys answering his children’s prayers. She didn’t candy coat the pain that we all experience in this life, but showed how God walks us through our pain and comforts us, sometimes through others and sometimes through His word. God is good all the time.
Karen made the characters come to life, so much that they seem like friends or friends that I wish that I had. Though sometimes I thought the characters seemed too perfect. They had emotions of sadness and fear, but they never struggled with getting control of them in anger or sickness. Though I suppose the book would have been too long to add all that.
I really enjoyed this book.
I haven’t been to NYC since that awful day, though I’d gone many times before 2001. This book has given me a curiosity to visit again and see the changes. I wonder if there is a little church across from ground zero and if it still has some memorial things of that time period. I’ll definitely go in the church and prayer for those families and friends affected by the attacks. Though I pray for them on 9/11 every year anyway. It will be interesting to see the changes in Manhattan after all these years.
