About this listen

Small town girl Jacqueline Conner Mitchell no longer had her husband, Bobby, to help her keep their fledgling travel and tour company afloat. Not yet 30 years old, he died in a plane crash while leading a tour of the African continent leaving her pregnant and alone.

Then, tragedy struck again, with the loss of their unborn child and her father. Now, she has her ailing mother, her teenage siblings, her failing business, and loyal employees to contend with. Without a substantial infusion of cash, her once promising future will end in disaster for those she holds most dear.

Jackson Chase wasn’t going to make it easy on Jacqueline, the love of his life, to continue to ignore him. He was no longer the trailer camp kid from the wrong side of the tracks who once rode a stripped-down Harley with his gang of bad boy misfits.

She loved him once, but let an incident when they were in high school separate them. Then she devastated him when she married wealthy, pretty boy Bobby Mitchell whose family their Maryland County was named for. Her husband was dead now and Jackson, a multibillionaire and owner of the local bank, was doing everything in his power to force her to come to him for help.

In order for her business to survive and to support her family, Jacqueline will have no choice but to sacrifice herself and submit to Jackson’s marriage demands. She doesn’t love him anymore and fears he seeks retribution for what happened in high school.

So, will the battle of bodies, souls, and minds start the moment she says "I do"?

Epic

Bittersweet Memories by Ann Jeffries is an epic listen. I love how the author writes the characters with depth, heart, and redemption. The focus on family is strong in this book, along with success. The character of Jacki was outstanding for her fortitude and resolute to overcome adversity. Kelley Hazen was amazing bringing the numerous characters to life with her voice. She performs a multitude of ages, ethnicity, and genders. I love the fact that I can easily hear who is speaking. This book will definitely stick with me. Well done!

And Jeffrey’s and Kelly Hazen do it again!

When Jackie loses her husband, her baby and her daddy in quick succession then her mother falls ill she’s about to lose her business and if she don’t get a miracle everything she knows will be lost. This book is so good I love when Jackie and Jackson meet I love the interaction with her and her siblings and the employees at theTourism shop. I love Kelly Hazen’s voice and I’ve come to depend on and Jeffrey‘s books to be read by her. From the year and discovering to this new series there a great duo in any book by them is a guaranteed yet! Just know it will not be a waste of a credit.g

Bittersweet Memories

A very touching story. Jackie was dealt a tough hand... the loss of her husband and unborn child left her reeling, and now the business they had started was having financial difficulties. Jackie is a strong woman, but when Jackson, steps back into her life, it may be too much for her to handle.

Ann Jeffries has done a fantastic job with this story. The characters are well developed and the storyline is engaging. A great addition to the Family Reunion - Wisdom of the Ancestors series.

Kelley Hazen is amazing. She not only has the ability to provide different voices and accents for the characters, but she narrates with such emotion. She truly brings the characters to life.

A Great Listen

I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the narrator and found it very entertaining. Life has been hard on Jacqueline, she lost her husband at a young age and the business they created together is in danger. Now the boy that broke her heart is the man that can save her business and her families dreams. There's a common theme through all these books, and that is family. Many of Jacqueline's choices are based on her family needs. The interesting and intriguing characters will keep you listening, wondering what unexpected twist will happen next. Probably longer then you intended to listen. This is a very enjoyable series.

Bittersweet memories... bittersweet love...

I don't know other books in the series, but if they are as good as this one, I'll definitely look for more.

Let down by her boyfriend Jackson and heartbroken at 15, Jacqueline later manages to find true love with her husband Bobby. But then one tragedy strikes after another: her husband is killed, she loses their unborn child and her father dies soon after... Can it get any worse? Then Jackson comes back into her life and by manipulation forces her to marry him to save her from financial ruin... Does he love her or does he just obsessively want to posses her...?

At first I though I wouldn't like Jacqueline and Jackson at all; she was too much into her grief and hatred towards Jackson and his obsession with her was almost on the brink of stalking... But then, as their story developed, as we got to know the history behind their complicated relationship I came to like them more and more, to the point of finally keeping fingers crossed for Jackson, hoping he would win Jacqueline's love back:)

All the main characters in the story are full-bodied, complex people; they are flawed, sometimes overreact and behave irrationally, just like in real life. There are some minor characters who are less well developed and serve only as pretexts for some events to happen, but as it makes for a gripping, emotional story it does not bother me too much... The best part of the book is that I really did believe in the emotional bonds between various characters - bonds of love, of hatred, of friendship..., they do ring true.

Narration by Ms Hazen is very good, as usual. She is great at doing different voices and faultless in the narrative parts. It's a wonderfully emotional interpretation of the book.

History Can Repeat

I have to admit this is my first listen by author and enjoyed it with great narration. It is about Jacqueline Conner Mitchel (Jackie) along with her husband Bobby opened a travel and tour company and he died while doing a tour. Jackie was under much duress with Bobby’s death her miscarriage and business income in jeopardy due to finances. Enter Jackson Chase a very persistent man and Jackie’s first love as teen pursues her. There are torrid love scenes so beware but lived the ending. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review. Thank you
