About this listen

Blake's 7 is a much-loved classic TV science fiction series, in which a band of rebels fight the despotic Federation, led by Supreme Commander Servalan. This audio collection features two thrilling full cast BBC Radio 4 adventures.

The Sevenfold Crown
Raiding Servalan's HQ, the crew discover that she possesses a jewel that belongs to an ancient, long-lost crown, a mystical artifact of indescribable power. Suddenly the Scorpio crew are as determined as Servalon to acquire the circlet; but if they do, will absolute power corrupt Avon absolutely?

The Syndeton Experiment
Tired of running, Avon and company plan to settle down on the planet Syndexia. But Servalan is ahead of them, on the trail of the man who invented the nanochip, a device which offers total control over human beings. If Servalan reaches Dr Rossum first, she stands a chance of enslaving a whole population.

Additional Bonus Material
This special edition features bonus interviews with the cast, many taken from the BBC7 programme Zen and the Art of Blake's 7. Amongst those talking about their time on the TV and radio series are Paul Darrow (Avon), Michael Keating (Vila), Jacqueline Pearce (Servalan), Steven Pacey (Tarrant), and Peter Tuddenham (Zen, Orac, and Slave). There are also contributions from loyal fans of Blake's 7, including comedian Mitch Benn.

Great cast, did writers understand Blake's7

The cast is great, but did the writers understand the world of Blake's7? Characters and ships talk about jumping to hyperspace the same way as if they were jumping to Lightspeed in Star Wars. They're instantly safe. Suddenly the Federation has ships that can fly faster than Scorpio with its new star drive? The Federation is now referred to as "The Feds." Lots of other things just don't fit in.

Fortunately, the cast works to make it all palatable.

This collection of two stories made by the BBC with interviews recorded after the first one. Just 10 years later, Big Finish Productions started producing a huge number of B7 stories. If you aren't familiar with BFP from their amazing Doctor Who Stories, you're in for a treat. BFP has produced amazing continuations are remakes of Doctor Who, Blake's 7, Survivors, Stargate SG1, Stargate Atlantis, Highlander, Dark Shadows, The Prisoner, Sapphire & Steel, Callan, and tons more. (Heck, BFP has created and produced more Doctor Who than the BBC, and done a consistently better job of it.)

This is an acceptable entry, but not a brilliant one.

Good ol' Seven

Felt like 3 lost episodes of Blake 7. Full cast, authentic music and sound effects, and good stories. A fun piece of Blake 7 history that's worth a nostalgic listen if nothing else.

watch out for the double regen....

Two good little tales from a time when the world was different. A good hop into later tales in the series. And a chapter of interviews.
