Publisher's summary

Every 125 years, the four sinfully sexy ruling coven lords choose a new concubine from the human population.

They handpick a woman based on blood type, often looking for one with the rarest blood type in the world: AB-negative. Only .06 percent of the population carries it. To vampires, it's the holy grail, the city of gold. To human women, it's a secret to be coveted, for the lords are known for their cruelty above all else.

Too bad I was born with it. My blood is both gold and poison.

It was easy to stay hidden until my 2th birthday, but from that year forward, every human on the planet is required to donate blood once per month. For me, that dreadful date is in two days. From that moment on, I will be a helpless fool in their cruel game of cat-and-mouse.

As soon as the coven leaders have me locked between their bloodied hands, I know they'll never let me go.

Note: This is a medium-heat reverse-harem romance suited for new adult audiences.

Steamy and Intriguing First

I very much enjoy Peyerk's style of writing and storytelling!
The story flows very well from beginning to end. There are a few hiccups, but not too many to upset the pace of the story.
The book is told from Blair's POV, so we get to know her pretty well. She did her best growing up knowing she'd be the next one chosen as the vampires' blood bag (her words). I liked the depth of her character as the story goes on because she works on herself as much as she reconciles with the idea of living with vampires for the rest of her long life.
The vampire lords were unique and interesting, though there weren't any scenes from their perspectives and I'm hoping we get some in the next book. They each had their own personality and an element that made them connect with Blair.

Note: There is some suspended belief necessary (aside from the fact that there are vampires in the story). AB negative blood is almost a universal receptor, anyone with negative blood type could donate to an AB negative person. I'm going with, in this world where vampires exist, only people with the same blood type can donate to each other due to some genetic fluke in humanity.

I enjoyed the narrator! She did a great job voicing the characters (even differentiating between all the male voices)! I liked her interpretation of Blair, she really got into the character.

Blood Demand

Okay what the hell just happen there at the end. Holy $h@+ 😳 what a plot twist there. Damn I'm so curious on what's going to happen next. I can't wait to get my hands on the next book. The narrator did a really good job too.

Twist on vampire human world

The fmc has hid her blood type for almost 25 years. As AB- is rare and when she is required to donate her life as she has known it will change forever. She will be tied to the four lords for the next 200 years. Will she resist or submit to them?

Vampire 'Lottery'

I've always associated covens with witches, but apparently vampires can manage them as well. More impressive, is doing so without killing each other in the process. Michael, Uriel, Gabriel, and Rapheal are royalty: each lording over a coven of their own. They bear no relation to the Archangels. These vampire brothers have been accustomed to sharing women for close to a millennia. The lore behind this particular arrangement was interesting. It's like a Beauty & the Beast situation, only there's no trespassing father, but a rare AB-negative blood type that catches their attention.

Blair just knows she's going to be the next chosen concubine on her 25th birthday. She's been dreading this for years, after she first learned of her special blood type status. She tries her best to avoid any romantic attachments because it will just be pointless. Casual flings were fine until she reluctantly falls in love -- only to have that end, badly. She hasn't gotten over that wound and resents the vampire lords because of it. The blurb is her bitter point of view, though she couldn't be further from the truth. The lords are not cruel by nature, although one of the brothers is cold and indifferent towards Blair. The others only want to take care of her during her period of "service."

There were a few caveats I was unsure of: like why 125 years? Or why did she not tell her mother or best friend until the very last minute? How does she know what to expect when she hasn't even experienced living in the palace yet? I didn't like how she wouldn't let the brothers talk to her about an important manner. She kept cutting them off each time and I'm glad it sort of blew up in her face at the end. The ending was a tad predictable, given the foreshadowing, but the overall story quite enjoyable nevertheless! The sex scenes were fine, as long as you're not squeamish about a little blood play.

I was given a free copy of this audio book in exchange for an honest review. Even though this ends on a cliffhanger, I would recommend continuing on with the series. #StoryOrigin

Great as usual

I’m a big fan of Kaylins work. This is no exception.
Vampire lords with a female with a very rare blood type.

We see the first sparks of a very steamy relationship, this is RH 4 brothers and one lady.

World building is off to a good start.
2.75 level of steam.
Two detailed sex scenes.
Narration was fabulous I enjoyed Ariel’s work.
