About this listen

Dyson Blake lies dying on a subway platform thinking she'll be just another statistic.

This isn’t how she thought she’d go out. Fang-deep in some helpless man isn’t how she thought she’d wake up. She didn’t think she’d wake up at all, but here she is, sucking someone's life out in a cemetery.

No, Dyson’s not dead. She’s not ever going home either. And she cannot control her bloodlust. Guided through her new life by her maker Sahrias, she soon discovers he has a secret: Their shared bloodline carries an ancient curse. Now Dyson must survive a power no vampire should possess and a fatal connection she can’t escape.

Dark, Haunting and Engrossing!

Dyson’s first life ended on a subway platform and her second began in a cemetery. Dark, haunting and engrossing, “Blood, Kin, and Curses” is her story. Beautifully written and fabulously narrated, I hung on every word! I loved the brilliantly defined, deeply developed characters, the flow of the story, and the FEEL, that dark, foreboding feel that gave me chills! I am thrilled that this is the start of a series because I can’t wait for more! Five deliciously foreboding stars! I loved it!

Detailed

This book details the life of a woman named Dyson Blake who is attacked on the subway platform in Toronto and left to die. She is transformed into a vampire. She lives as best she can, learning to form friendships and alliances. She discoveries things about herself which are surprising. Maria Marquis does a great job of voicing different accents.

The world of Dyson

A woman named Dyson is attacked on a Subway platform and left to die. A man (Vampire) see what happens and decides to change her, but let's her dead body be buried. This is the story of after she claws her way out of the grave and her maker takes her in until she is once again functional. Because the story keep switching btw now and the future I personally found it hard to follow and extremely distracting. Narrator does a good job with the various characters voices and Storyline.

Really really enjoyable

4.5 star listen, I need to listen to this characters friends story. Obviously there is more to come I’m just slightly confused to where the story ended. There’s so much left out between where the story ends (current timeframe) and all the time from where the flash backs end. What makes her the way she is, what’s happened to the boy, who actually is he, where are all the friends. I need book two but it’s not even written yet let alone on audio. This is what’s frustrating. I think I’ll need lochlans story to tie me over. I liked the storyline, narrative was fabulous.

This seems like a prequel

Still not sure where this story was going. I feel it was a prequel for the other books. I would probably enjoyed it more had I read the others.

Loved it a great read.

I loved this book read it twice and continued with the others Magic Required and Dominion Required. I have read and heard all of these books at least twice. I hope she does more in this series.

Blood,kin and curses

I wanted to like this book.I just didn't. Dyson was at a party, then a train with a friend. She should have taken a taxi. She wakes in pain.Dyson kept waking up. Narration by Maria Marquis was done well.I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
