About this listen

In this sexy thriller from #1 New York Times bestselling author Sandra Brown, an unruly detective and an ambitious TV show producer work against the clock to prevent another young woman from disappearing before the next blood moon—while trying to resist the attraction between them.

Detective John Bowie is one misstep away from being fired from the Auclair Police Department in coastal Louisiana. Recently divorced and slightly heavy-handed with his liquor, Bowie does all that he can to cope with the actions taken (or not taken) during the investigation of Crissy Mellin, a teenage girl who disappeared more than three years prior. But now, Crisis Point, a long-running true crime television series, is soon to air an episode documenting the unsolved Mellin case. Bowie has been instructed by his unscrupulous boss to keep to his grievances and criticisms over the mishandling of the investigation to himself.

Beth Collins, a senior producer on Crisis Point, knows what classifies as a great story and when there’s something more to be told. After working on the show for seven years, Collins is convinced that Crissy Mellin’s disappearance was not an isolated incident. A string of disappearances of teenage girls in nearby areas have only one thing in common: They took place on the night of a blood moon. In a last-ditch effort to find out the truth, Beth enlists Detective Bowie to help her figure out what happened to Crissy and find the true culprit before he acts on the next blood moon—in four days’ time.

With their jobs and their lives at risk, Bowie and Collins band together to identify and capture a perpetrator, while fighting an irresistible spark between them that threatens to upend everything.

I'm a big Sandra Brown fan, so I was thrilled to begin this new book. The reader was OK, but not great. The story was OK, but not great. I'm glad I listened to this new book, but I won't be so quick in pre-ordering her next one. I'll wait to read the reviews before purchasing.

Kinda Disappointed

for light soft suspense, this is your book. new to reading darker than light mysteries. realy bumbed cause the Author and narrator are normally my favorite duo. Definitely, don't write remarks so bland. but typically don't read books so vanilla

In the First couple of chapters, I thought that Miss Brown had gotten herself a ghostwriter!!! But as the chapters moved on, I caught snippets of my favorite books of Miss Brown and her signature phrases she uses in every book. Then l remembered that she got her start as a core romance writer for silhouette romances before going mainstream, with none or one paragraph of romance. Those stories took her to the top of fiction hardcover bestsellers. So because of the romance story scenes so early on in this book, l thought she had gotten a ghostwriter because why would she give up her hard won career status earned getting women and MEN fans. It is not easy to produce a great best seller every year to meet a publisher release date which Ms Brown produces around August each year. So in my humble opinion, since I own every single one of her books written even back in the old Harlequin days, Ms Brown borrowed a little bit from about maybe two or three books and came up with this story. She still has her signature who done it ending. If you are a longtime fan of her work, you will note my titles and think, l got this and look for the classic clues.

The storyline is just a little too far fetched for me and the dialogue is slow and awkward at times.

Not her best

Too much sex detail. it seems gratuitous. Her books are always interesting, if she could cut the descriptive sex her books would be much better. The romance could be more indicated instead of making readers fast forward through those laborious tortured sections.

Great detective story.

Sandra Brown knows how to write a thriller. She's always a guaranteed great read in my book, and this one fits that bill as well.

The characters are rich, ragged, and genuine. The pacing and storyline are spot-on and lead the reader into a series of events that defy easy description. The addition of a potential enemies-to-lovers romance adds an extra dynamic to this house of mirrors.

For fans of Sandra Brown and readers who enjoy falling down a rabbit hole into a great suspense read, this one's a must.

Yep. Grab this One.

I always love Sandra Brown, but this one wasn’t one of her better efforts. The male & female leads were written well, and their attraction progressed in a realistic way. However, I would summarize the story as romantic suspense, searching for some suspense. The whole Blood Moon theory didn’t make logical sense, it wasn’t developed well and the ending was very weak & bland. The villain was so meek, that he didn’t seem much of a villain.

Lack of Real Suspense
