About this listen

In this classic tale, a woman is reunited with the man she has loved for years, and must reveal the secret that will jeopardize her chance for happiness at last.

He arrived out of the blue, a flesh-and-blood phantom from the past in a sports car as sleek and sexy as Law Kincaid himself. The world-famous astronaut was as devastatingly attractive as the first time Marnie Hibbs had laid eyes on him, 17 years before. But she well knew the perils of falling for a ladies' man like Law. And this time she had someone besides herself to protect. Law is determined to discover who is sending him anonymous letters claiming he'd fathered a son he knows nothing about. Showing up at the Hibbs' return address from the letters seemed like a step in the right direction. Marnie swears she isn't the guilty party, but when Law meets her son, it's like a one-two punch to his solar plexus. The boy is nearly the spitting image of Law. Law can't remember sleeping with Marnie; then again, he can't remember much about his crazy past. But there's more to it than that: Marnie claims the boy isn't biologically hers.

As the tension between them becomes unbearable and the attraction undeniable, Marnie is forced to reveal a long-held secret...one that might cause her to lose both the boy she loves more than anyone, and the man she desires more than anything.

Family drama with nice ending

Main character was pretty neurotic with intimacy but she finally loosened up by the end

Long Time Coming

Not bad, but very predictable story line. The characters personas were relatively superficial. I did not “fall in love” with any of the characters.

hard to swallow

The story and romance was well written, but the main characters were just too hard to believe for their roles. She was nearly always frigid and rude - but somehow he became totally captivated by her. And he was a womanizing jerk, nothing real charming about him. Yet she secretely desired him. The story of their past (and why she was still single) made me role my eyes in disbelief numerous times. If you can handle a lot of "that would never really happen", then you might enjoy this book more than I did. In the end, it was a good romance story.

1988 Classic Recorded 2005

If you are a 30 yr fan, like I am, of Ms Browns novels starting with these short core romances novels she first wrote before hitting the N.Y. Times best sellers list, then this book is for you. Beware if you are not familiar with ‘80s core bodice ripper dialogue, then you may find this type of dialogue to be way different than Ms Brown’s current mystery romance with her signature ending. I always check the original publishers date as that tells me so much about the time when the novel was written. Some reviewers get blindsided from current work when they do not realize they are reading a classic novel.
Ms Denaker had the privilege of recording the great romance author’s Judith McNaught, Every Breath You Take so although I had read this novel in the ‘80’s I wanted to hear the book. So glad Audible marked this book 70% off sale. Ms Denaker has a mixed range of voices, but only our young teenager gets a great role in this read. She has done better. See great male voice in Sizzle from Julie Garwood. That story holds the same southern drawl as in this one and both are not to my liking.
Were my comments of help?
