About this listen

The only thing more annoying than a ghost flash mob is a rogue vampire attack . . .

Supernatural investigator Mina Summers is only one undercover mission away from the promotion she's worked for her entire career. Her assignment is simple: figure out why several unregistered vampires are going rogue—including one that ruined her best suit—and attacking humans. Her investigation leads her to Thinner, a new celebrity-endorsed weight loss company that's shrouded in mystery and promises seemingly impossible results.

Mina's convinced she'll finish her mission in time for dinner, but when she face-plants into Carma Nicks, Thinner's smart and sexy vice president, Mina's suddenly out of her depth. Surely her heart is only racing due to adrenaline, right? Falling for—and sleeping with—a mark goes 100% against protocol, but Mina's plans to keep her distance are as flimsy as the agency-issued ghost that resides in her apartment.

When Thinner's secrets disrupt the peace between supernaturals and humans—and threaten Carma's life—Mina's forced to choose between protecting her dream career or saving the woman she loves.

I loved the characters, and plot. This was more romance than supernatural, but to me it was perfect. Narrator was EXCELLENT. I already bought books 2 and 3.

Sapphic Supernatural… with government funding. Really enjoyed this one. Good mix of all things. Paranormal, Crime/Mystery, a dash of humor and a pinch of romance.

Really Good

This book is so good! The characters and their relationships between each other is just great. The author built a believable world and the relationship between the two main MCs is just off the chart. A bit of spice with a HEA.

Vampires, ghosts, and romance oh my!

Great mix of action and romance. Fun characters. Great descriptions. It’s got everything - mystery, comedy, romance, paranormal.

Beautiful mix of action and romance

This was a charming slow burn FF romance with mild swear words and three medium heat sex scenes in the last third of the book. Except for one jarringly off scene where a supposed cop with integrity shoots a handcuffed suspect to coerce a confession, it was Scooby Doo light on mystery, violence, and gore.
I’d have been happier with the fluffy vibe if the story compensated with action, comedy, or clever dialogue; instead, it was mostly cute banter.

In fact, this was almost entirely devoid of action. The urban fantasy element is bearely fleshed out,
with offhand references to zombies and pixies that never go into much details. I got through half the book before I realized that most of the world was unaware of the supernatural stuff.

My favorite parts were the interactions with family and friends, particularly her ghost roomies.
The joshing and support had enough personality to keep me going, even though I had the mystery pegged from the very beginning.

The narrator did an excellent job of distinguishing the multiple ladies and I never had a problem telling the two FMCs apart. The next book adds a male narrator and features Mina’s fellow S.H.A.P. agent
Jake Robinson.

Thin on UF & mystery; thick on FF romance & family

The performance is beautiful. The narrator has such a fantastic voice.

The story makes ableist jokes and diet culture references, enough said!

Ableist, unfortunately
