About this listen

Teren Adams was everything Emma had ever wanted in a man - kind, caring, loyal, loving, and on occasion, a hopeless romantic. True, he was also a "little bit" vampire, and had recently joined the ranks of the undead, but to Emma, that wasn’t important. She was his, he was hers, and she couldn’t wait to be his wife, have his children, and stay by his side for as long as her mortal life would allow her to. At least...that was the plan.

New generation vampire

In Bloodlines one man’s selfishness becomes one woman’s unselfishness. We get to explore a whole new world with mixed vampires and the next generation of human/vampire members.

Narrator:
Piper Goodeve once again gave a splendid top notch performance of all these characters. I’m glad the same narrator is carrying on with each book.

Overall:
This was once again a sexually driven story full of passion and desire. There was no disputing the love they shared.
There were some repetitive scenes already addressed in Conversation for the sake of the new human character introductions, but it was necessary to the storyline.
I did a little bored during the wedding and baby talk. Once that was out if the way I regained my interest.
I prefer the dangerous aspects with the humans and vampires interacting.

Exploring more of the mixed vampire-human traits was fun and interesting.
I liked how SC Stephens broke down each vampire trait with an illustrated scene. With super hearing abilities a scene was procured to illustrate the pros and cons of this ability. Both sides of the trait were illustrated to reveal somethings can originally be perceived as a benefit while in reality it also can be a hindrance.

This is not a typical vampire story. Yet I could help but still compare it to Twilight or Interview with a Vampire. There were some similarities.
I like that SC Stephens took a typical vampire story and made it her own with distinct traits unique to the mixed breed.

The sex scenes were filled with passion, desire, and intimacy leaving no doubt in my mind that Teren and Emma had an emotionally deep connection. Even when the characters weren’t having sex the connection continued to overflow with emotions.
I couldn’t help comparing the conversion situation to that of a cancer patient in Emma’s case. I couldn’t help but be concerned about the blood they drank whether it was clean or contaminated.
I liked how Ms. Stephens provided enough biology but not too much. She treated the explanation not like a lesson but more of an informative source of facts to clear up any misconceptions.

Slowing Down

The second book in a trilogy, Bloodlines continues the story of Emma and Teren as they come to grips with his life as a vampire and that of his family. I thought book one was clever and well done. I adore Piper Goodeve's narration and ability to portray multiple characters. Bloodlines was very good but not the 'page turner' of Conversion. It was a bit too long and went off the rails a time or two. However, it's still a very novel idea in the circle of vampire books and well done.

Young Vampire Love Done Right

After reading book one, I knew I'd love this audiobook. The author and the narrator are both favorites of mine. And this part of the story was just as good as the first - now I can't wait for the next one. This was truly young vampire love done right.

I love this series!

This is a romantic fantasy series but it has such a different overall theme. If you read/listened to the 1st book in the trilogy and liked it, you'll love this one too. The books need to be read in order, they are not standalone books and each book builds from the last. Definitely worth the credits to get all 3, I've listened to it several times :-)

Another great book in this fantastic vamp series!

If you could sum up Bloodlines in three words, what would they be?

Incredibly unique goodness

What did you like best about this story?

I loved being drawn in deeper into this very realistic paranormal universe right along with Emma. It was a totally immersive read

Have you listened to any of Piper Goodeve’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes. She animated the dense narrative of Teren and Emma's story flawlessly yet again.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Being a "little bit" vampire ain't so bad!

Any additional comments?

The first time that Emma and Teren discovered the compulsion to get all up in each other's space was one of my favorite scenes. And the subsequent reunion scenes just kept getting better. I also enjoyed random things like Emma's bachelorette party, Teren when he pretended to be drunk, and "hot" Ben's pivotal role in this sequel. I am so excited to read 'Til Death next in what has quickly become one of my all time favorite vampire series.
