Publisher's summary

Twelve years ago, the novel Dourado by David Wood introduced the world to the treasure-hunting duo of Dane Maddock and "Bones" Bonebrake - former Navy SEALs on a quest to discover the strangest treasures of the ancient world. Over the course of more than twenty novels, you’ve lived their adventures from the beginning of their career as elite commandos to their battle against the worldwide conspiracy known as the Dominion.

Now, the time has come to tell the story of Dane and Bones’ final, shocking mission as Navy SEALs.

There will be blood....

While still mourning a great personal loss, Maddock and Bones are sent undercover to Moscow to assist an old acquaintance Zara Leopov, a navy intelligence officer. Leopov is orchestrating the defection of a Russian archivist who has discovered a crucial clue concerning the fate of a high-ranking Nazi official who went missing at the end of World War II, a man who may have carried with him the most sacred relic of the Third Reich.

The search to discover the truth will take Dane and Bones around the world and throw back the curtain on a conspiracy born in the early hours of the Cold War - a shadow government that is manipulating the global powers, driving them headlong into the storm.

Praise for David Wood and Sean Ellis:

“Bloodstorm takes us back to the beginning, weaving treasure-hunting SEALs Dane and Bones into a globe-spanning clash with Russian mobsters and the lost supernatural power of the Third Reich. If you like ancient artifacts, Nazi gold, and empire-ending conspiracies delivered like a punch to the teeth, you'll love Wood and Ellis' latest addition to the Dane Maddock universe." (Taylor Zajonc, award-winning author of The Maw)

“Dane and Bones. Together they're unstoppable. Rip-roaring action from start to finish. Wit and humor throughout. Just one question - how soon until the next one? Because I can't wait.” (Graham Brown, author of Shadows of the Midnight Sun)

“What an adventure! A great read that provides lots of action, and thoughtful insight as well, into strange realms that are sometimes best left unexplored.” (Paul Kemprecos, author of Cool Blue Tomb and coauthor of the NUMA Files series)

“Ellis and Wood are a partnership forged in the fires of hell. Books don’t burn hotter than this!” (Steven Savile, author of the Ogmios thriller series)

Always a great roller coaster ride

Love the snippets of history but I have to say I hate cliff hanging endings

Fantastic Fiction

4.5 out of 5 stars

These Dane and Bones origin stories are always a nice change of pace from the other stories – but they’re also not as good. That’s not to say they’re bad (they’re not even close). I just miss Dane and Bones’ ability to do what they want when they want to. That being said – it was super fascinating to see how they were finally released from duty and what happened on their last mission.

I absolutely flew through Bloodstorm – honestly I think I finished it in two evenings. I wanted to know how it was going to end from the first few chapters. That’s a sign of fantastic writing.

The actual story within Bloodstorm tells of a relic (I won’t spoil the reveal of what it actually is) that can be traced back through many powerful people. It has been used to convince others to follow. And it may have been used by Hitler and the Third Reich. The hunt for this leads Bones and Dane all over the world and even almost leads to their deaths.

If you go into a David Wood and Sean Ellis book think you’re going to be underwhelmed then there’s something wrong with you. Wood and Ellis have blown me off my feet in every novel they’ve written together. Bloodstorm was no different. Even though I wished that Dane and Bones were more autonomous like they are in the post-Origins novels – this one was still full of action, intrigue, and of course Bones’ dirty jokes.

A Great Adventure

I really enjoyed this story, as it involves Maddock and Bones in their last adventure as Navy SEALS. There are so many historical overtones and the action was non-stop, which made for a great audiobook experience. The narration by Jeffrey Kafer was top-notch, as always, and it was hard to stop listening.

What a wild chase

I love the chase and this one does not disappoint. You travel across the world, more specifically 4 continents during this very extreme and exciting chase. It blends a whole lot of history facts with a great fictional tale and together they make such a rewarding roller coaster ride. I have to admit, I found that the story did drag a little near the middle but not enough to deter me or take my attention away. I think I just wanted more action, more action, more action. The narration is done wonderfully. There are so many different accents and the performer nails them all. I have followed this series for many books. The thing I love most is that you can pick up one book should you be interested and not necessarily go in order, however I would definitely recommend that you battle alongside our heroes and go start to finish.

Bloodstorm

The story was good It has lots of historical references in it. I think it was a bit different than what I am used to or maybe its because this is book 10 and my first in the series and I felt behind. The narration is fantastic, its what kept me listening.

Dane and Bones Adventure

Bloodstorm by David Woods and Sean Ellis immediately pulled me in. I love how the authors have created the characters of Dane and Bones, by making them rough around the edges. They wrote this book careful historical detail and meshing it with fiction, it was like an Indiana Jones adventure for my ears and imagination. I could visualize so many details. Jeffrey Kafer was wonderful bringing the characters to life with his voice. I requested this review copy audiobook and have voluntarily written this review. I will definitely listen to more books by the authors and narrator. I love this series!
