Publisher's summary

Number-one New York Times best seller

Jack Reacher comes to the aid of an elderly couple...and confronts his most dangerous opponents yet.

"Jack Reacher is today’s James Bond, a thriller hero we can’t get enough of." (Ken Follett)

"This is a random universe", Reacher says. "Once in a blue moon things turn out just right."

This isn’t one of those times.

Reacher is on a Greyhound bus, minding his own business, with no particular place to go and all the time in the world to get there. Then, he steps off the bus to help an old man who is obviously just a victim waiting to happen. But you know what they say about good deeds. Now, Reacher wants to make it right.

An elderly couple have made a few well-meaning mistakes, and now they owe big money to some very bad people. One brazen move leads to another, and suddenly Reacher finds himself a wanted man in the middle of a brutal turf war between rival Ukrainian and Albanian gangs.

Reacher has to stay one step ahead of the loan sharks, the thugs, and the assassins. He teams up with a fed-up waitress who knows a little more than she’s letting on, and sets out to take down the powerful and make the greedy pay. It’s a long shot. The odds are against him. But Reacher believes in a certain kind of justice...the kind that comes along once in a blue moon.

Scott Brick is a worthy successor to Dick Hill

This was the strongest Reacher novel in several years. The last 3-5 novels read like Lee Child was getting paid by the word. "Reacher said nothing" was repeated so often I was tempted to turn it into a drinking game.
Blue Moon seems fresh with a plausible and interesting plot that moves along at a brisk pace.

Not his best but still enjoyable listening to.

It was a bit dull compared to the other reacher novels. I still wouldn’t miss any of them.

I expected the full book

I was unimpressed by this new Reacher book. (I have to admit that Scott Brick is my least favorite narrator, but that's not what I found lacking.) I couldn't understand why it didn't have the usual Reacher commentaries and descriptions and just lacked what I have come to expect from Lee Child. When it ended and the final narrator said it was an abridged version, I almost fell out of my chair. I never purchase abridged versions and I didn't see where that was mentioned before I purchased it. Thus, I will be returning it for credit and looking for the full version.. or maybe I'll just break down and buy the book.

A little disappointed.

I have listened to every Jack Reacher novel on Audible and was excited to see a another Reacher novel available. However, I was a little disappointed in the Blue Moon. The story didn’t seam as developed as previous novels. I thought Blue Moon had more action but less twists and turns. I felt as if Lee Child wanted to focus on the fight sequences at the expense of the story.
Regarding Scott Brick’s narration, I like him, but prefer Dick Hills narration for Reacher novels.
This is the first Reacher novel I kept checking to see how much remained rather than sitting in car listening after I arrived at my destination.

Audible memberships are a scam

I got this with one of my free credits several months ago. At the time there wasn't an option for abridged VS unabridged. Nobody likes abridged audio books. I guess audible decided since it was a freebie they'd go ahead and give me the abridged. This is after they stole my billing info from Amazon years ago and charged a subscription for months before I caught it. I hope Jeff bezos gets aids.
