About this listen

Detective Sarah Cuddahy lost her daughter five years ago. Work is all she has left and right now, she has six missing children on her case board. She's hoping for a miracle. She desperately needs a break in this case. Having her estranged husband, FBI Agent Tom Cuddahy, show up and take the case in a whole new direction isn't the miracle she'd expected. Each time she looks into his eyes, all she can see is the truth - they lost their little girl because Sarah made a mistake.

Special Agent Tom Cuddahy was certain he'd seen the worst of the worst until he found himself drawn into the kind of case that true nightmares are made of. Unless he can find the children, they will all die. Can he convince the woman he still loves with all his heart to trust him again?

Sarah is determined not to make a mistake this time...this time she will find those missing children - even if it means sacrificing her own sanity and exposing herself to the one man who holds the power to shatter her already broken heart.

surviving a tragedy isn't easy...

We met FBI Agent Tom Cuddahy in Bone Deep and knew that he was a good guy...so why is his estranged wife filing for divorce?
Police Detective Sarah Cuddahy is in the middle of a case that hits home...5 yrs ago, her 5yo daughter was abducted and has never been found. Now Sarah is searching for missing children and that brings back all the memories. It doesn't help that her soon-to-be-ex husband, Tom Cuddahy, has shown up...with an outlandish supposition! Can this pair reconcile the pain caused by losing a child, and work on saving the missing children?
This story will keep you in its grip until the end! You do not need to read book 1 to enjoy but it does help to have the background. I highly recommend that you give this book a try.

Interesting continuation of the story

At first I didn't think this book was any kind of continuation of the first story, but it was. An interesting twist to the story. More about the children taken and why they were. Action and police investigation. Romance and twists. A good read.

I Needed An Epilogue. Narration Was Meh!

I did enjoy this book that focused on Tom, Sarah, and the loss of their daughter. There were a number of moments of suspense. This book could be read as a stand-alone. I think readers would get a more complete picture of the situation by reading the first book in the series before this one.

It was fairly obvious what happened to Tom and Sarah, but I have to wonder if that was because I dread the first book. Sarah irritated me because she kept insisted that Tom blamed her for what happened. I never got that sense he did.

Tom irritated me because he was so reluctant to share details with Sarah. Maybe if he explained what happened with Paul in Paradise, she would have been less reluctant to go along.

Still, with all of my irritations, it was an intriguing, even thought provoking book. Please don't think my irritation makes the book an less entertaining. I don't have criticisms with authors taking creative license. For example, would an experienced FBI agent going rogue be that unprotected with NO backup other than his detective wife? Who knows? But it wouldn't make or break a story for me.

I listened to the audiobook. I didn't think the narration was that great. I wish there had been an epilogue that provide some additional detail. After reading both books, it felt like I needed more to the ending. I felt like additional information was needed, or at the very minimum wanted by me. Oh well.
