About this listen

In this stunningly twisty thriller from #1 New York Times bestselling author Harlan Coben, a secret from former Detective Sami Kierce's college days comes back to haunt him. His memory is clear, but all these years later, the facts don’t add up…which is something he cannot ignore.

Sami Kierce, a young college grad backpacking in Spain with friends, wakes up one morning, covered in blood. There’s a knife in his hand. Beside him, the body of his girlfriend. Anna. Dead. He doesn’t know what happened. His screams drown out his thoughts—and then he runs.

Twenty-two years later, Kierce, now a private investigator, is a new father who’s working off his debts by doing low level surveillance jobs and teaching wannabe sleuths at a night school in New York City. One evening, he recognizes a familiar face at the back of the classroom. Anna. It’s unmistakably her. As soon as Kierce makes eye contact with her, she bolts. For Kierce there is no choice. He knows he must find this woman and solve the impossible mystery that has haunted his every waking moment since that terrible day.

His investigation will bring him face-to-face with his past—and prove, after all this time, he’s nobody’s fool.

Editorial Review

Will he find redemption, or will his past destroy him?
This is one of my most anticipated books of the year. Fans of Fool Me Once, whether you devoured the book or binged the Netflix adaptation, are in for a treat as Harlan Coben returns with the sequel Nobody’s Fool. Picking up a year after the shocking events of the first book, this novel plunges into the tumultuous world of former Detective Sami Kierce, a man struggling to outrun both his past and his tarnished reputation. I am eager to see how Kierce’s story unfolds. Will he find redemption, or will his past destroy him once and for all? If Coben’s track record is any indication, Nobody’s Fool will be a gripping, edge-of-your-seat ride filled with high-stakes drama and the kind of storytelling that keeps you guessing until the final page. —Dawn G., Audible Editor

Sooo Good!

I need the next one NOW. Not to mention the narrator — he has a Jensen Akles sound and I could listen to him read a phone book. This is how all audiobooks should be!

He is the master!

Omg - this book was so good. I absolutely love his standalone books. They are just magical and keep you so engaged. The narration was spot on too. Overall, best book I’ve read in a long time. Give us more!!!

Adam does Coban justice

Narrator nails Coben's newest novel. You can hear every nuance as intended. I fell in love with Molly's character!

Cliche ridden and sappy

I have adored Coben’s work from the beginning. And, am trying to work my way through the TV adaptations even though it’s difficult with so many in different languages. While many of his characters are characterized by wise-cracking, this main character is both sappy, often droning on and on about life’s teachings, and clearly can’t say much without his oft discussed “witty repartee”. Turning nearly every line into sarcastic zingers or puns seems very juvenile; like he is trying to seem “cool” to kids. While I enjoy good wit as much as anyone, this gets very lame and tiresome. He seems determined to make his less-cool characters sound as though they were always speaking to teenagers…trying to use their lingo. And sadly, it comes off to me like trying too hard. This is probably the only Coben book I have been disappointed in. An older author trying to sound “with it”.

Had to return.

the over dramatic reading was very distracting. Extremely hard to follow. I felt like I was watching an old Mike Hammer type movie.
I love Harlan Coben so I'll just read this one.

So Good

Really like this new book by HC. Lots of great writing, humor, sarcasm & wit, characters easy to connect to. The premise for the book revolves around a flawed ex cop that so many still like and admire. The past and the present flowed easily as needed rather than chapter by chapter. Overall the story and subplots were intriguing and discovering the truth was intense and unexpected.

Narration was good. Characters had their own distinct voices, except some of the female students were a bit off which was distracting.

Not the best Coben

The narrator was overly dramatic. The protagonist, righteous. And the story wasn’t very satisfying but it was a decent ride.
