About this listen

Born of the fiery world of Nocturne, the Salamanders believe in self-sacrifice and the sanctity of human life.

Their father, Vulkan, was raised on this world, a blacksmith's son from humble origins who became a primarch of the Emperor of Mankind and forged his sons into a Legion. Their saga is one of heroism, betrayal, tragedy and rebirth. They have returned from the edge of extinction more than once, forever embattled, never bowed, the Legion and their primarch the epitome of defiance in the face of adversity. Unto the anvil, born of flame.

I noticed that I started to get annoyed with Saul Reichlin's voice. Vastly prefer Keeble

disliked one of the narrators

This story comes after another plot advancement and stands to provide a bunch of precrusade and istvaan stories. the sons of the forge novella is the only one that was worth while and even still pretty lower mid tier as far as stories are concerned. It does circle back to Regulus so, I guess there's something worthwhile.

mediocre, especially at this point

overall good. the last 2 short stories are the best. interesting to see what happens to a few side characters.

good but long

I’m not a fan of recycling old stories. While I can understand that it was done in order to set the tone for the final piece, I feel like it was a missed opportunity to explore new perspectives within that older material.

Some recycled material

not even the great Johnathan Keeble could make this book worth listening to. After 20 painfully dull chapters of Saul Reichlin's nauseating voice and unenthusiastic tone, I heard the voice of Johnathan Keeble. I thought maybe there is hope after all. I was wrong. Although, Keeble does an amazing job narrating this compilation of tales. You can skip this book entirely and not miss a thing. this a fever dream memory of events that have already been covered in other books. it's just fluff and filler.

unnecessary storyline

I thought that the ending was perfect! Don't skip this one and remember Vulkan lives!

Great!

Its a slow start. The last half is much better than the first half. Not the best not the worst of the horis heresy
