About this listen

Dreaming the Serpent Spear is the magnificent final story of the world’s most famous warrior queen in in Manda Scott’s best-selling Boudica series.

Britannia, AD 60: the tribes of Britannia are ready to seek bloody vengeance. Twenty thousand warriors are poised to reclaim their land from their captors.

Now is their chance: the Roman governor has marched his legions west, leaving his capital and a vital port undefended. There is no going back.

But to crush her enemies for all time, the Boudica must do more than lead her army in the greatest rebellion Britain has ever known. She must find healing for herself, for the land - and for Graine, her eight-year-old daughter.

Colchester is burning. London has been destroyed. Amidst fire and bloody revolution, the Boudica and those around her must fight to keep what matters most - now and for all time.

Completely engaging

I listened to "The Eagle" years ago and have been waiting forever for the rest of the series to make it to Audible. TOTALLY worth the wait. The charecters are well built, the storyline is sound and history engaging. Loved the narration as well!!

Brilliance

This has always been one of my favorite stories, in history. This was a beautiful conclusion to the epic life of Boudicca. I cried, I was enraged but I was captivated. Thank you for the journey.

Loved the whole series

If you like period dramas based on what we know about history, this is a great one. I really like how the author gives a narrative about what has been surmised thru archaeology and then created the story from that. It gives you the feeling that you are there.

These books need to be a movie series

I read the whole series of the Boudica, and I am thoroughly convinced they would make an unbelievable movie series. With history and culture of the indigenous, so that those now can remember where their DNA came from bravo!

The best history you've heard retold

I love this series. If you have an interest in history, if you have any disdain for imperialism, if you enjoy fantasy at all, you will love this series. The end we know already does not at all prevent you from being gripped by every stroke of a blade.

Loving the Warrior

Life on such a scale is difficult to comprehend. The raw, true, magnificent glory of the time left me both breathless and wanting. The connection to the land and to honor is very compelling. I recommend the series of the three Dreamings. Transforming.
